the britains catalogus 2011 (1 Viewer)

Great additions! Nice to have another ACW bgde officer as well as loading figs to add to the firing line. Would like to have a battery officer and guidon to go with the must have battery addition. Agree with previous post the horses need some work on their poses. They look stiff with the front leg at a 45 deg angle.

Thanks guys for posting the catalog pics.

I don't mind the horses so much, there is the odd weird leg angle but overall I think they are quite good. My main concern is that they are just large. They dwarf the people. I know horses are big but they are not that big.

As you know Joe, I sculpted both British AZW artillery sets and the water cart set too. I would have thought that boots would have been the preferred footwear too, but photographic evidence showed a great variety of both issue and private purchase items so that is what I went with... including ammunition boots and leggings. Nothing like a primary source to upset a preconceived idea.
As for the watercart, to be useful for both scenerios, I opted not to use personalities as this cart was used throughout the British Army in this period. Hopefully these sets and the 1st AZW artillery set will find homes in a fair number of collections.
All the Best,
Ken Osen

It's nice seeing the addition of the second gun but all in both the first and second set should be warring riding boots. It's also nice seeing the water cart making it's appearance but it would have been even nicer seeing Lt. Bromhead in an action pose along with Hookie an another ranker rescuring the water cart.....The Lt.

There's no doubt in my mind Ken that the sets will find themselves in more than a fair number of homes including mine. The action figure of Bromhead that I would have like to have seen would have play a number of different officers as well the other personalitie figure I mention. Believe be good sir I'll find many uses for the sets as they are..............Joe

Hello Ken, I am really excited to see that WB has created this big batch of the 1st Royals. Such a smart looking unit and I've been hoping to see them for quite a while.

Wondering if the guidon staff will be constructed of more rigid material on the production figure?

Again, great job on these and I am poised to pre-order the 3 SL versions as soon as they hit the system. Still bummed that I missed out on the Scotland Forever vignette last year. :redface2::smile2:

The pre production paint master had a cast white metal painted staff that was damaged in shipping. The production figures will have steel so that will not be a problem.
This excellent grouping of figures are just the first wave of mounted figures sculpted by the talented Alan Ball for our Waterloo range.
Look for more in the next catalog.

I am going to use a combo of WBritain and some lesser "fillers" to make a "grand" charge of the Union Brigade, which can be changed around slightly to be a charge of the lancers against a fleeing brigade. Could we get some poor dismounted Brits getting chased down?
-Sandor

P.S. this will all be on top of a tartan cloth, with crops growing on it^&cool, and a picture background. Already have a smaller one of the greys charging a Guard battery.

Steel sounds excellent. Thanks Ken. :smile2:

Hi Guys,
I believe the figures Ken mentioned at post 35 as arrived at Britains warhouse are the following :

NEW
20068 Zulu Charging
20080 Natal Mounted Police Wounded
24004 Brit Para Present Day
27010 Camel Corps Trooper Mounted
31063 Union Cavalry Trooper Standing Firing,
31073 Chosen Ground Ltd Ed set (sold out)
31075 Union Surgery set
31078 Union Wounded Ltd Ed (sold out)

and re-stocks of 4 Scots Guards, a Life Guard and HM the Queen from the Ceremonial series.

Note the two sold out items mean sold out at Britains not the dealers..

Hope that helps.

Some great releases in the catalogue such as the Water cart and Zulu / Artillerry set. However the one that
stands out to me is the modern British stretcher set.

Have never thought about it before but having a British Regiment named after York and Lancaster is strange since a few hundred years earlier they fought the War of the Roses. Somebody high up in the Army had a sense of humour.

Regards
Brett

I love the Museum Collection and the new General McArthur figure. The catalog text states that he is the first in a series. Is he part of a new series of Generals throughout history?

Guys

Last useful piece to post is the below document that came with the membership pack and latest Standard - it has the 2010 items that were hit by production issues and their delivery dates for march - July 2011.

Also the 50023C - Zulu Induna on Foot will not be avilable until May - but worth the wait I reckon

Finally, as it says in the Standard - there will be quarterly catalogues in 2011 and so once catch up is complete to quote "This coming year will be different story, with new facilities coming on-line and aggressive re-orders placed early in the year. We'll be seeing an improvement by the second half of 2011."

Cheers

Gazza

Gents,

Nice catalogue, although fairly slim there is still a great number of figures on my "to get " list.

Do like both the new Lancers and Dragoons for the Nap range, we will have to see if I can get the Missus into working at weekends as well. The Zulu Brit artillery piece is a must for me and I do like the new York and Lancaster range, some good poses there especially the Officer.

Will get the "Help for Heroes" figure set, it is a nice thought from Britains. Thank you.

Re: the britains catalogus 2011 - Napoleonic

Like some of the new stuff, but was wondering why there is the new Brit Cav when in 2010 they released a Scots Grey mounted with Highlander and a Scots Grey pecial for Magpies in Evesham, meaning we have just two quite lonely Scots Greys.

Let us all hope that britains get their deliveries sorted.

The new stuff together with incredible price rises and historical inaccuracies by King and Country is making me return to my first love, William Britains.

Hi everyone! I'm new here but dont you think it would be cool if they made an Irish revolution series on the Easter Rising or something similar?

It would certianly be cool - as in reaction in the UK :smile2:

We get blamed for everything from slavery to sodomy.

But, as a range it would have to be limited to 2 million pcs, the entire population of the green isle would buy it (save 60% of the 6 counties at the top).

Don't forget the Irish American who'd buy it;) They did make an American Revolution series and people still buy it probably even in the UK

Hi Guys:

Glad you like the catalog. We are, needless to say, working on deliveries and are ever vigilant on quality. Not sure anyone mentioned it, but thought it should be pointed out that we have taken the extraordinary decision to hold our prices in this catalog. Not many figure producers can say that so far this year. The UK prices went up slightly thanks to the increase in VAT - which of course is government decreed (and for those math wizzes out there you will note some are higher than the 2.5% increase in VAT simply to to try and keep the pricing rational - e.g. - no 25.195 GBP figures).

Enjoy, look forward to making my way through this thread - still catching up from Westcoaster and four days at Seaworld and Legoland with my 7 and 8 years old.

Was excited to see the new releases here today and have already pre-ordered some of the 1st Royals so I don't miss out like I did with the "Forward Gordons" set last year.

When I get back from France will preorder the redoubt, 1-3 of each horse and the other stuff. By the way- the gordons set is on eBay.
