The great crusade (1 Viewer)

Firebat...

Excellent scene very evocative with the wreckage of the downed plane

Well troops .....The Great Crusade is taking shape, but just like the real Great Crusade, it involves staggering preparation. We have been averaging 6 hours a day, 5 days a week for the past 6 months. That is just for Episode 1, there will be 10 Episodes.

We stated on our website, that we would compromise extreme detail for speed. We find that that does not sit well with us. As a matter of fact we find ourselves increasing the detail level again and again. We hope to have Episode 1 out in early 2011. I told Nick we need a particular building for a scene, which I said don't make too complex....Well it has been 5 weeks...nope...not done yet. I have been working on a pet scene for about a month, and I keep adding to it and adding to it. We find that laying out all of the scenes for a particular Episode at the same time works well, we just keep tweaking and tweaking. Episode 1 will take 6 elaborate scenes to complete. As will the other Episodes. So now it looks like 60 scenes to tell the story !

We are still struggling with the format. As of now, we plan to have narration on our website, with still shots to carry the storyline. And It looks like the video portion will have to be shown on You Tube, due to the enormous file size.

Then we were thinking we would just put short video clips on our website with the stills, and do a HD DVD, which we would sell after the whole project is completed, over a year from now. The DVD would contain material that would not be released in the regular presentation, and would have alternate endings and other features. Also the clarity would be superior to the video we would release on our website or You Tube.

If anyone has any suggestions let us know.

We will have a Trailer out in a few weeks.

Alex & Nick

Look forward to it always a pleasure to see your work sounds like its quite a slog!!

Yup...Quite a slog......Just got done with another session at the Batworks, Nick came up with another "Brilliant" detail idea, that will cost us probably another 3 day setback....Well all in the name of realism !

Here is a treat...... Marc Thorsen the renowned building and scenic sculptor will be contributing one of his hand made buildings to our project, which we plan to use in Episode III.

Marc is doing this in the name of camaraderie between those that do what we do, and for greater entertainment for BSP's audience.

Thank You Marc.....Alex and Nick

THE DAY OF DAYS IS AT HAND.......BSP will attempt to bring Toy Soldiers to life, and Honor our Veterans with the essence of realism and reality that they deserve......Stay Tuned..... www.battlesceneproductions.net

Well on this Forum we don't have many fans !.........Because our objective has never been understood.......Yes, on our Website we have thousands of fans, and are single handedly bringing new blood into the hobby, with our hybrid take on the Military Replica World.

Hello Alex, how are you?

I have a question and a little comment;

Question: Are you going to focus and highlight more the figures or the Diorama constructions or even both?

Comment: I think, sometimes, that you use to much photoshop effects and most of the time hide the quality of the diorama construction, please do not take this as a bad comment it is just my opinion as a diorama builder.

Best regards

We appreciate the input, we always ask for suggestions but we receive little to no cooperation in that area. We do not consider ourselves just diorama builders.....We consider ourselves story tellers and historic entertainers. We will use effects where necessary, but as you will see in the comparison below. The integrity of the basic diorama is always the foundation for our work. Once someone said we used a lot of manipulation in a photo, and all we did was airbrushed a little mist at a shore line. Is our work that real looking ! ! !...The rest was just as we built it.

I guess it is all a matter of opinion, but we will do this project pretty much as we have done in the past.....with some new twists....Looking forward to your next project....The offer is still on the table if you want to do a small building for us. Marc Thorsen just sent us one of his....... Regards Alex

These shots are from the upcoming series. All of the scenery is hand made including the blown up rail car...we also weather the figures and vehicles, to dull them down, especially K&C figures. Actually in this series the figure and vehicle weathering will be more intense.

Hello Alex, thanks for the photos, I also use allot of Photoshop and really like the possibilities we can achieve with this software, and these pictures look nice with the effects...My point was about only SOME of your photos IMO has a heavy effects and will hide the details, like the photograph showed in the beginning of this thread

Thanks for your time to bring these photos
Regards
