"The Zulu War" (2 Viewers)

Joe, this flag bearer is the best Zulu figure made by Conte, a very dramatic piece to say the least. Well displayed by you. Robin.

Can't disagree Robin but you must admit Conte's provided us with some outstanding figures throught the new series. Here's one I've depicted on the 1879zuluwar forum depictig him as my version of Lady Butlers sketch of Private David Jenkins where there's a debate going on as to weather or not he should be added to the rolls of the survivers of Rorkes Drift. Apparently he's the ranker that's he known to have saved Lieutenant Chard's life during the fighting at the Mission Station. This is a figure I'm really fond of..........The Lt.

I can just imagine what he appears to be saying Joe :wink2: :salute::

Cheers mate

Put it this way, he would be banned from this forum judging from his facial features. Another good looking pose and dramatic piece. Thanks for the up close and personal shot Joe, Robin.

Like wise with your comments Martyn and Robin. A few day's ago I asked on the Rorke's Drift VC forum if anyone one had photos of the diorama at the Regimental Museum in Brecon and here's the results I've gotten

The diorama building, accessories and figures looks like the set sold by Redoubt Miniatures for 28mm wargames. Very well done.

wds0855 The Diorama was created by Bill Cainan of the Regimental Museum at Brecon who was good enough to supply the photos. He also sent along a photo of a diorama done by a young Ian Knight along with a Cliff Sanderson diorama which also appear at the Museum which I'm passing along. The figures in both are from the series of kit figures created by Cliff which also feature figures he converted from his kits. They were the first kit figures I bought that introduce me into collecting the perid and eventually into the world of toy soldiers..........The Lt.

Michael from the slopes of Shiyne Hill in shallow caves and crevices Zulu markmen were able to fire right down into the British defensive position but the range of - about 300 yards was to great for the obsolete flintlocks and percussion rifles carried by the Zulus to be very effective. Brian it would be great to join you visiting Brecon and Robin you hit the nail on the head as to the reason we collect and add to our Zulu War collections.........Joe

Returning to the camp at Isandlwana as it's seen being over run in black and white..........The Lt.
