"The Zulu War" (1 Viewer)

I have David Rattray's book on Lolyd. It think most of the images from "On Active Service" are included. I did not realize until Randy posted the link that Lolyd had published a book. I was under the impression that Lolyd's sketches had been rediscovered by David Rattray and published for the first time in 2006/2007.
His pictures are quite accurate. There was one of Inchanga outside Durban. I drove through there every day for a year and even I could recognize the features from Lolyd's sketches

A little play time with the help of our playset addict Joe Baker who who provided the photo which I've taken to play with....The Lt.

Durnford Ride out at approx. 1130hrs on the 22nd January 1879 to prevent the Zulus from encircling Chelmsford's column, or so he thought. With him is Captain Nourse in charge of the 1st Battalion of the 1st Regiment Natal Native Contingent. They are soon engaged by the left horn of the Zulu attack formation, that would soon encircle the entire camp at Isandlwana.

Blimey Mike the last time I saw that many NNC was in Zulu Dawn:D

Nice one;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

Seems Martyn that my Aide De Camp has been finding Trophys sets and playing catch up in adding them to his collection. Looks like he's got 3 sets of the NNC under the current command of Little Legion Colonel Durnford. Nice way to feature them Mike and once again a nice story line to go along with them....The Lt.

Thanks Lt. and Martyn,
But 've had both the Dragon Crest sets and Col. Anthony for almost two years now. I'm in fact catching up on setting them up. They were in the rear of the 5th column display cabinet, wasting away like Col. Rowland's:eek:

You've made me think:cool:

I've got a lot of AZW DORSET, WESSEX, AQM and STEADFAST sets in a cupboard that need to see the "light of day", must get around to taking some pictures of them;)

Cheers

Mike is that the Build A Rama Desert mat?

Jag,
Yes it is, and as you know, I can't say enough good things about Mark's mats, they roll up when you're done, no shedding (except the other base I made that sticks to the bottom of it).

Your request is duly noted, My Lord, and I will most graciously be complying with all details of your dispatch. I can not speak for my brother officer, Sir Martyn, however his prior actions under fire in the face of the enemy have been quite noble indeed.
