Things that annoy me (7 Viewers)

That must have been a terrible way to die. Hard to understand how something like that happens. A terrible thing for the families.
I couldn't agree more. I've always had good drivers who take it nice and slow crossing Bailey bridges. The tracks are very narrow, and the consequences can be deadly.

The timeline of things getting better under the new administration.

At the end of January when people asked about the cost of everyday living remaining so high the answer was it has only been a month, wait another couple of months and things will get better.

Now, after 2 more months the answer is wait another couple of months.

Take a look at Snow White, it is drowning and now predicted to be break even at best. As I have said, words and actions matter. Not only was the script crap, but the main lead said a whole lot in public that wasn't very nice. She is now owning the flop.

The actress was so bad Disney had to assign an agent to preview her social media comments. The prince in the original movie, 1937, was a "stalker" according to her.

I will never, as in ever, trust another politician again; they tell you what you want to hear to get elected, then once they are elected, they do the opposite of what they promised and blame any problems on the previous administration.

Had me fooled, I'll give him that.

The media is focused on the stock market and potential prices increases and ignoring how the world has been ripping off the US for decades with tariffs and unfair trade practices. These are the same countries that the US pays to defend while they spend almost nothing on their own national defense. I'm not sure if such drastic tariffs will solve that problem but the problem is real. I would expect the market to make back most of its losses in the coming weeks. There will be some short-term pain. Manufacturers will use the tariffs as an excuse to raise prices. Only if these countries realize that Trump is serious and sticking to his guns will there be any changes.

The strangest thing about the "reciprocal" tariffs is that they are not really reciprocal. They are derived from a roundabout formula:

"The formula is to divide the U.S. trade deficit with each country by that country's exports to the U.S. The final reciprocal tariff was then divided by 2, with a minimum of 10% (which applies even to those countries with which the U.S. has a trade surplus."

Very true post. I am a long term view on this in more of a wait and see. Yes, short term could be painful, but at some point, there has to be a change. The other side of this coin is that if the Country continued to punt the football, we would eventually be owned in more ways than one by a certain Country due to our own bankruptcy and dependency. There is a medium here, it could just take a bit to get there. At least that is my opinion. I don't blame the current White House anymore than I blame the last 60 years of Presidency. Doing nothing was not an option either. As with most crisis or perceived crisis, adjustments will be made and we will move forward.

As to the Stock Market, like the weather, close your eyes and it will change momentarily and like I said before, the true traders and market movers will get richer, you just have to stay the course.

Yesterday he just lost the house and the senate come midterm time, he'll be a two year lame duck like he was the first time around.

Some people never learn from their mistakes.

Carriers like UPS, DHL and FED EX are going to take a beating too; a lot less product is going to be traveling here from abroad, the three of them are screwed.

When Biden won in 2020 I thought the stock market would tank. It did not and it rose to record highs. Then Trump wins and he starts this tariff BS. I understand the principle behind it and it is right. However example Vietnam makes shoes that comes to the U.S. so now the U.S. cannot the next day start making those shoes. This will take a lot of time if deals are not made in regards to these tariffs. I was a 100% Trump person but I'm not a happy camper now. I also agree with Tom the market will come back but when? I'm 78 I can't wait for the shoe factory to be built here!

I love the way this jackass yammers about bringing production back to the US; so these factories will get built in a weekend and the workers trained in 10 minutes?

By the time this happens, he'll be out of office.

Such a clueless jackass.

Yeah, let's all just play the long game; so a portfolio took a 200K hit the past couple of days.............oh well, easy come, easy go, just let it play out, ups and downs, ups and downs...............we've all got all the time in the world for this to right itself.

Sure we do.

That's some solid thinking right there.

Six months of earnings wiped out in 5 minutes.

Worst day in 5 years, both on his watch too BTW.

I am sorry, but the market has done this since I have invested in it. I just don't get the short term thinking. Nothing was wiped out, it is all on paper. Earnings? NO, the market has been on artificial highs for years, there is absolutely ZERO earnings behind the market growth. It has all been the same house of cards for years, just like the dollar is backed in gold, yeah right, that went out of style about 1901 or so.

As I said, mark my words, 30 days from now, there will be a new topic of disaster and the market will have quietly recovered the next time it is in the news cycle. Rinse, wash repeat.

And yes, any financial genius will tell you "time in the market" NOT "timing the market".

Funny how massive stock market losses come in a day (or less) but any significant gains take years and years.

In any event I am more concerned with the cost of everyday living.

I voted based on the promise that, quickly if not instantly, things would get better economically.

They have actually gotten worse.

And I am really tired of the short term pain line.

Short term is looking more and more like long term.

Worst of all, these crap policies are going to hand the next election cycle to the democrats.

I don't think factories will come back either due to labor costs. Production costs overseas are pennies to the dollar with the differences in wages, union labor strikes and OSHA costs here in the USA.

When COVID struck it was announced antibiotics, not even aspirin, are made in the USA. Made in China and the supply could be cut off whenever the CHICOMs wanted to. So six yrs later we're told antibiotics are still not being made here. Nothing changed in that time.
