Things that annoy me (8 Viewers)

I may have mentioned this one before but people who park their enormous pickup truck or service vans at the end of a parking lane rendering it impossible to see around them when trying to pull out of the lane. Apparently never giving a moments thought to the difficulties that they pose for every single person who is trying to get out of the parking lot.

Another parking lot peeve is people who insist on backing into a space even though they are terrible drivers and it is pointless since they could simply drive through an empty space and be facing outward on the other side.

Especially when they park like that outside other peoples homes, 'kin tossers.

yea...this one really hits home with me...trying to navigate the UTMB 6 floor hospital parking garage...where the signs on the corner turnaround parking spaces clearly say..."Subcompact Cars Only"...these people park their One-Ton Dually trucks...which you can barely get around to make the turn...also ticks me off as much as able-bodied people taking handicap spots with no placards on their mirror or license plates...

Contrary to what most people think most policemen do not like writing tickets. There wasn't a quota but you would here about it if you didn't. Having said that the one ticket I did not mind writing was a car in a handicap spot with out the proper signage. Regular parking tickets at the time where $10 but handicap tickets were $50.

currently $500 t0 $750 in Texas...with additional increases to habitual offenders...remember Governor Abbott is in a wheel chair...
Its the same here now in NZ due to the increasing number of 'entitled,' illegally using disabled parking without the required permit. The Govt here got so fed-up they bumped the instant fine up to $750 earlier this year.

That's more than double what it used to be. I only wish they'd do the same for those obsessed cell-phones users here, who can't seem to drive for more than 50 metres before having to call or text someone, while ignoring the hands-free options.

Fine is $645 and 4 demerit points in Queensland, loose your license after 12 points over Three years. These fines can be applied by Queensland Police Service or Local County Council.

The other one that really bothers me in Texas is trucks lifted 20 feet off the ground that have permanent handicap plates.

If you can climb down from a truck as high as Everest you can park in a standard parking spot and walk a few more steps.

My Dad had a great parking ticket story; he was writing a ticket for a person who parked in a "no parking" zone in Boston, the vehicle owner comes running out of a store "Oh please don't write me a ticket, I was only parking for 5 minutes while I ran into this store real quick!!" so my Dad says "Tell you what, I'll give you a break; if you can show me a "no parking except for 5 minutes" sign, I won't write you up."

The guy says "Well you got me on that one"................and my Dad ripped the ticket up.

Because that was how my Dad was as a police officer, I miss him every day as well as I miss my Mom.

Colleges are now able to pay athletes. On the upside, many have already been doing that on the sly for decades. It does end the fake facade of amateur sports but is likely the beginning of the end of a long arc. Not sure this plays out the way that the athletes and schools think. Many fans have had enough. When players show no loyalty to a school and move from team to team each year a lot of the luster comes off the support.

Great post. It is t8me to remove “college” from “college sports”.

Again, there are so many students who make money for colleges via research, patents, etc.

Often times those monies exceed what any sport, even vaunted football, can imagine.

All those contributing students ever see is a scholarship if they are lucky, but they are happy to have that.

What really annoys me are peaceful protests because in certain zip codes they look a heckuva lot like a riot which is anything but peaceful. Just sayin.

I also don’t understand how winning an NBA championship produces the same result as federal laws being enforced? Seems the two events are synonymous is LA. Definitely boggles the mind. Another reason never to live there.

I do not care what your cause or gripe is, if you want to peacefully protest I am ok with it.

The minute you start to destroy property and become violent you lose your right to assemble.

That goes for everything and everyone, even if it is something that I believe in.

Police reform, the January 6th gatherings and the ICE opposition, if you cross the line you should be dealt with appropriately.

Could not agree more. I am all for peaceful assembly. That is a right. My sarcasm in the post above reflects my disdain for what is apparently organized and planned violence according to the LAPD.
Ridiculous to say the least there is zero justification for this. Zero. And if you want something else really off the rails, the illegal immigrant from Maryland who Rep Van Hollen went to visit is now being brought back under federal indictment. You really can't make this up. More waste of taxpayer dollars and you wonder why US is in debt.

I have no doubt, as in zero, that this country is headed for another Civil War, this is the worst division I've seen in this country in my lifetime.

Friends/relatives of mine who are anti Trump have for the most part completely come off the rails, you can't even have a civil discussion with them before they become unglued.

Trump supporter friends of mine think he can do no wrong, again, you can't even have a discussion with them before they too become unglued.

I have no time or inclination to speak to anyone about the riots; I know what left leaning and right leaning friends and family will say, so why bother.

Me; I have less than zero use for him, the tariff fiasco has cost me a small fortune in fees, all I've done is lit that money on fire, shortages are looming too, gas prices have not come down like he said they would with his drill baby drill rhetoric, I am in radio silence, no news watching, no reading stories, no nothing.

That said, I can converse about him without losing my marbles, just because I have no use for him is not a reason to become unhinged.

We as a country are in big, big trouble.
