Things that I really like (1 Viewer)

Yes they did!

We got a few hail stones at 3 AM...then that was it.

Back to trimming falling limbs...from the ice storm back in February.

Lou, Daylight savings is for the birds! That is one thing I CANNOT STAND! Yes, it is getting warmer and I am happy as a lark, but I just know one more blast of cold air will come. Hopefully not. I will say the East Coast in Spring is beautiful.

John:

A few days of 80’s, then some 70’s, now extreme thunderstorms with hail. Highs in the 40’s next week.

At least there aren’t any bugs yet. I am not a fan of being bitten over and over by the mosquitoes as the cicadas hum a song about how bugs love a human buffet.

However, I am a fan of the way the extreme weather keeps the price of real estate and the cost of living down. ^&grin

Jason,

I had to bring all my potted plants in today...and the new ones I bought to plant. BOO! Then I had to re-arrange them in order to put all the cars in the garage for the impending hail storm. I just cleaned the garage last week and got rid of 5 contractors bags of crap that I haven't touch in years. Why we have 6 stadiums chairs is beyond me and 8 fold out chairs. We had a tent...I don't even camp! I haven't camped since Korea where I HAD to camp.

Anyway it WAS spic and span clean for the wife's new car arrival. I had the plants set out and pretty. THEN grumblings of a freeze and I was rushing to bring everything in. Now I can't walk around the garage with out getting poked by a bougainvillea.

I just can't win this time of year.

John:

Thankfully that storm was not as bad as predicted.

It looks like late next week we will finally be able to enjoy some beautiful Texas spring weather.

I see some Shiner Bock in next weekend’s forecast!

Best,
Jason

Jason,

Some friends came over for dinner last night and the plan after dinner was wine, cigars and sit out side by our gas fire pit on the patio. So, the wife ordered tube upright outdoor heater thing to the top patio and then sent me to Home Depot to get a gas tank. We had dinner and then it was time to go outside. All the while I'm think WHY!?!

So, I drank coffee and wrapped a throw blanket around me like a towel and sat in the cold. I found none of it appealing...but the cigar was good.

Today is gorgeous and I am already icing down the beer for this upcoming week. I can't wait to get this over with and on to our South Texas Spring...which "I like".

Lenin cat memes. "You can't has cheeseburgers until all cats has cheeseburgers." "I do not enjoy other cat communists except for Chairman M3ow."

The Nashville police for the way they handled the recent shooting. Nothing short of heroic. It's increasingly rare in our society to see any organization that is well trained and prepared for a difficult task. These guys were professionals.

I second that! Looking at the footage, their response was textbook. They did what first responders are supposed to do, run towards the gunshots and not away from them.
Their response to this unimaginably tragic event was heroic.

Third that.

PS: I also like my prescription computer glasses I got from the VA. Still trying to get used to them but I CAN SEE!

The teachers also did a fantastic job. No small feat getting elementary school kids safely out of the building in those circumstances. I have no idea how they did it so quickly. The body cam footage appears to show the school entirely empty just minutes after the shooter entered.

Svengoolie. I really get a kick out of the Saturday night horror host on ME TV. A throwback to the 70s. I remember in DC they had a guy named Count Gore De Vol who was on UHF Channel 20 every Saturday night around 11PM. He was a hoot. There was also "The Ghost Host" on channel 45 out of Baltimore. In LA, of course, they had Elvira for years.

My local cable provider for whatever idiotic reason dropped ME TV, I'm pissed, he showed some good cheesy horror movies.

We have COMET, Elvira and her cannons hosts some foolish series of movies, they are unwatchable.....................with a set of jugs like that, too bad she plays for the other team.

I think you can get Me TV with just an antenna the old fashioned way. Old school.

Yep. My carrier dropped METV also, and I watched it quite a bit. Ticked me off. -- Al

I think Me TV is a byproduct of the digital TV broadcast transition from several years ago. Some broadcast networks had additional spectrum to use and can broadcast multiple stations. Old TV shows were a cheap and popular way to use the additional channels. So it is available with an antenna for anyone who wants to relive the actual 1950s by attaching rabbit ears.

I believe its strongest signal is from here in Chicago. So move in! Its worth it... ... ...

I actually had an air travel experience that wasn't a nightmare this week. No line to check my baggage, pleasant TSA officers, plane left on time, and the plane was not packed full. There was actually an empty row. They will probably declare bankruptcy and ask for a bailout, though.

The Hollywood writers' strike! The best news in many months. Hopefully it goes on for years putting those late night "comedy" shows out of business.

This strike won't have any effect on my viewing whatsoever. As it is, I only watch baseball, news, and movie channels. Absolutely nothing in the way of regular scripted TV worth watching anyway. What if they held a strike and no one cared? -- Al

I'm watching nothing at all on the regular channels. I am watching Skinwalker Ranch.

Same here, but those late-night political commentaries disguised as comedy are annoying. The clips often show up on my homepage. Every once in a while, I watch the old Johnny Carson show. What a difference from today. It's hard to even remember when there was actual entertainment on the networks. He made political jokes but his show was not all commentary. And it was balanced.
