My daughter is graduating from college tomorrow. That alone would be grounds for celebration but she had a long, tough road to it. She was born in a Russian baby hospital in Moscow where I don't think she had ever been outdoors when we adopted her around one-year old. She had mild autism and struggled mightily in school. I can remember her school having an end of the year awards ceremony where she was often the only kid in her class not to get an award. Year after year. At 13-years old she had perfect attendance in school and was seemingly in great health when she was diagnosed with leukemia. One day she was fine, the next she was in the pediatric cancer center. She spent almost three years in treatment. Cancer free for almost ten years now. So good for her tomorrow. Graduating with honors.

What an inspiring story of perseverance.

I'm hoping for a Toronto - Edmonton final. As you stated Toronto has not had a cup forever and as for Edmonton I want to see McJesus in the finals. Speaking of former Blues coaches that went on to better things how about Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour, Joel Queunville. They all got their start in St Louis.

Speaking of McJesus; that pass in OT was something, as was him faking Eichel out of his underwear.

He's a mega talent and a complete joy to watch, incredible player.

This may be sacrilegious but I wonder how good Gretzky would be if he played in todays game?
Most NHL skaters make those players from the 80', 90's look like they were skating in sand. And the passing , stickhandling and moves these player today have are so far above what they did back then. Now the big thing, goaltending. No comparison. In the 80's, 90's look at all the players who were scoring over 50 goals a year. I won't even compare a player today to a player in the 60's or 70's as there is no comparison. I remember when I first got interested in hockey , 67-68, if a player was 6 ' he was considered a giant. Now it's hard to find anyone under 6'.

Congratulations to your daughter and your family!! We take a lot for granted during our lives not realizing sometimes how difficult and challenging life can really be. God bless you and your family and what a tremendous achievement giving your daughter the chance for a better life!!

Much like Doug's post but without IMO the monumental achievement through adversity, I am also not the proud parent of a college grad with high honors. What a weekend thus far. Back to the Hotel at 4am after quite the celebratory night. What an experience. He is now off to Chattanooga TN gainfully employed and on a tv near you! I am thankful we and my parents (80s) got to be here for this wonderful experience!

Back to the Hotel at 4am after quite the celebratory night. What an experience. He is now off to Chattanooga TN gainfully employed and on a tv near you! I am thankful we and my parents (80s) got to be here for this wonderful experience!

Congrats Tom. Chattanooga is a great place for your son to live. I considered retiring there. Among other things, no state income tax.

Agree and thanks, the only sad thing is his work will come in contracts! SO - only 2 years to start, then it is on to somewhere else, he is already hoping next stop is Nashville. I am having him renew his license as a TN resident , so yes no tax!

The Hershey Bears. They have won back-to-back AHL Calder Cups over the last two season. No easy task. Onward to this season. They were down 2-1 in the first round in the best of five and playing on road. They won game four and just closed out the series in game five. Moving on to the next round.

Progress on the trade deal with China. Hopefully that's good news for the market. CNN and MSNBC will be devasted if they don't get those shots of "empty shelves." So hopefully this would blow up and Americans would suffer. Instead it could actually work.
