1504, Discovering the Americas for trade and to spread the 'Word'. Robin.

And here was me thinking they came for Gold to plunder and they mostly spread diseases ! {eek3}

Other than that a great looking Diorama Robin ! ^&grin

Love it, Robin. This looks like a picture from a history book. The river and the foliage/trees look great. Just yesterday as I was looking at various dios here on the forum, I was wondering where you might explore next. As always, you've provided a pleasant surprise.

I like your photos as well, esp. this one. The dark background works well to highlight the village scene. Great work as always!

Sorry to be a few photos behind Robin but I was admiring the grey buildings and yards. Please could you say who made them? All the best, Kevin.

Great to hear from you Kevin. Always enjoy your Arnhem thread. These buildings are from Jakob. If you look at his site all the buildings I have are either his original or exact copies, number 39 that I have purchased, arriving in a couple of weeks, a Mexican villa. So toysoldier.dk is his website, throughly recommend his work. They have made my collection come to life. He advertises in the Toy Soldier Collectors magazine. Let me know if you need further information. Hit the flag option to get English words. Jakob speaks English. Robin.

Looks quiet out there at the moment Robin, but you can never tell ! {sm2}

Good looking set up there mate :salute::

Great vignette with a true feel for the terrain. Interesting story portrayed. Well done. Chris

Cool display, but what's waiting down the road? I'm guessing Zulus, black as hell and thick as grass {eek3}

Not TS related however I watched an entertaining 'African' movie titled 'Primeval' last night on Disneyplus. It's partly based on actual events and compares an 'evil' Crocodile to an 'evil' Dude. It was released back in 2007 and even then it pushed the PC boundaries, panned by critics of course but I enjoyed it.

Thanks everyone for your participation on my thread. You know by now how much enthusiasm I get from the members on this forum. Unfortunately Wayne, my sister in law is the culprit for the backdrop painting, so not commercially available. This with a second one, form the backdrop of my Isandlwana permanent display. The other one has the mountain on it. Zulu remains my core series, the others are MG, LH, AE and LOJ. The rest I collect, are usually a dabble and often inspired by a diorama building or such, like Hougoumont. I have given the ‘Roman’s’ a fair nudge, together with Berlin 38 and Pacific conflict. Cattle drive is a throw back to my early childhood. Aussies in Vietnam and the slow burn ‘Falklands’ are my current interests. So there you have it, a snapshot of my collecting aspirations. Robin.

So a picture is worth a thousand words. Robin.

ps, can recommend 'Last Post' terrain mats, really nice, 3 to choose from. Holding out for a Desert and snow mat.

Also one of the backdrop paintings is half hidden behind the other, otherwise too long, but very useful when doing a stand alone display when requiring a panoramic view.

Thanks Wayne, you had me looking at this and I suddenly saw I could extend the backdrop even if it went slightly into my LH display. Think it looks better. Robin.

I really like the background painting, your sister in-law did a great job. If only I could talk my youngest son into something similar, he's done some Bob Ross style landscapes in the past, but reckons he doesn't have the spare time to paint anything for me.

Robin, would you post a link to 'Last Post'? Couldn't find anything for them. Thanks. Chris
