Traditional Gloss Artillery Sets (2 Viewers)

Hi All,

Just joined the group and would like to mention that I also enjoy very much artillery sets. I mainly focus on artillery from 1800s to 1918s, although some Napoleonic and British/American Civil war sets are around.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to exchange ideas, check historical info and trade.

I have just added to my file an album with some of my artillery sets. Feel free to drop by and have a look. In case your collection interests run around the same lines as mine lets talk and share ideas.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I just checked your photos , you have a very nice collection there.

I like painting gloss artillery, I am currently painting a WW1 Austrian Field Gun and Crew for a forum member. I have a couple of albums showing sets which I painted some years ago along with the ones which have been painted for forum members.

Regards

Jeff

Hi AC,

If you click on my user name at the top of one of my posts and select view public profile, this then takes you to my home page where the albums are.

Thanks

Jeff

Welcome to the forum AC. I enjoyed viewing your artillery sets. You have a very nice collection. I am partial to gloss and matte artillery sets and try to buy a couple a year. My most recent set is the French/ Indian war Britain's artillery. Thanks for posting. Leadmen

Jeff - I am a little late to this thread, but terrific work and thanks for posting.

Thanks, shame I didn't have a half decent camera then along with your photography skills, they would have been a lot better.

Jeff

Arty Crazy,
Very late to the thread, looked at your collection...Very nice and well presented! I love your idea of framing the action with books in the background. I'll bet you didn't know it, but I have the same books, and never thought of the presentation that way.

Your 24th Foot guys are Traditions painted by you? Royal Artillery Officer looks like a Mountford from their Hales Rocket Battery, is it? Love to hear any information on it. Welcome, Mike.

If you guys like glossy artillery, you have got to check out Mark Hoffman's collection in NYC. Circa 5,000-6,000 figures and maybe 500-1000 guns, all dedicated to artillery.

Since I don't get to NYC that often, is any of the collection available on line?

thanks,
Dick

I don't think so, unless one of the forum members who attended this year's New York Symposium posted some shots - Brad might know.

Louis, Dickbuttons,

I actually shot a ton of shots of Mark's collection, I will try to go through a few and send over to Brad to post them. To say impressive is an understatement, it is fabulous. Also to note, the other collections of Louis and Lawrence are out of this world too. I have about 200 pics total. I planned on sending Louis and Lawrence a cd of the photos.

Dynamite,

Tom

There are no pictures of Mark's collection available on Treefrog. If Tom can post some people could see what Mark has. Also the photos of Larry's collection on Treefrog aren't that good so it would also be fantastic if Tom could post those as well.

Hi Tom,

Feel free to add some of the mentioned artillery photos from the collection to the Artillery Crazy social group. It is always neice to see what great work is out there.

Can anyone tell me if the Dorset website is still functioning ? I've sent them TWO emails without a reply re: a couple of artillery sets they had displayed. It seems like the site hasn't been updated in 8 years ! Anyone out there know if Dorset is still in business ?? THANKS folks !!

Try www.dorsetsoldiers.com. Giles Brown was at the London show in June and is very much in business.

Today I checked how the Tradition FIW British Artillery Set, painted by Jeff, and the FIW Artillery Set made by Britains would fit together and am very pleased with the result. A few pictures are attached to show them together.
Like in real life, some guys are a bit heavier than others, but I think they fit great.
Konrad
