Trophy Boxer Rebellion (1 Viewer)

hi polar bear, you need to get in touch with mike laeding at trophyoftexas and he can burn you a cd with pictures of every set he has ever stocked, for a minimal fee. the cd is great. good luck

Randy,

As Hawkeye suggested, I sent an email to Mike Laeding a few months back asking to purchase a CD of Trophy sets, but there was no reply. I hope that you have better luck than I had.

Best, Raymond.

:)

:)

Martyn,

The Dragon Gun is a masterpiece of work !!

I think this set will fetch a record final winning bid.

Best, Raymond.

:)

Hi Raymond

I think you could be right, I'm keeping an eye on these but will not be bidding.

Cheers

BS19 Dragon Gun Battery

Hi Randy,

Thanks for previously posting these TOT images of the awesome Imperial Dragon Gun Battery.

The image below shows very clearly the ornately painted barrel of the cannon.

I just wonder if there are actual images of this cannon archived somewhere.

Best, Raymond.

:)

Hello Martyn,

I have been doing some research on the Imperial Chinese Dragon Cannon.

It may be that this captured Chinese dragon cannon is on display at the Guardroom of Horseshoe Barracks (former home of the British School of Gunnery) in the Borough of Southend on Sea.

Any input would be most welcome?

Best, Raymond.

Hello Martyn,

Thanks very much for your reply and input.

Here is a link to the website of the 36th Regiment Royal Artillery:

http://www.36regimentra.org.uk/id29.htm

There is a very short write-up on the 111th (Dragon) Battery RA as well as a B & W picture of the real thing.

Have a Good Weekend,

Cheers, Raymond.

Hi Raymond

Many thanks for that very interesting link

The gun in the picture does look very similar, if not the same as the Trophy model.

I see that this gun was captured in the First Opium War in 1840

You have a great weekend

Cheers

Not an awful price if you consider it was $265-$290 (US) new depending where you bought it. Ok, I feel better. This was one of the pieces that eluded me for a long time, now very happy.

Other comments - the prices paid on the figure sets was incredible, those things sat on shelves for a long time, I am amazed at almost $500 for the Kansu, that is insane. Somebody out there really wanted a collection and fast. I am really surprised the gun didnt go higher. If it is as mint as stated, I will be very happy paying a $90 premium.

The Boxer Rebellion is the only Trophy series I do not have some pieces from.
Just never got round to it and then Trophy closed. It is just too bad as they are great pieces.
Well done on winning the Dragon Gun.
Please post some pictures.

Hi tom, i am glad you won it, i too needed that piece but i got stuck late busy with customers. I was going to go up to 451.00. How hi were you going to go, i am asking because i just feel bad i did not get my bid in. Anyhow , after seeing how hi those other boxer sets went maybe i should just sell off that part of the collection because it will be tough to complete at those prices.

The Peking Gate diorama went for about 300 USD a year ago.
I think Trophy is gradually creeping up in price all round.

You know a few years back there was a lot on ebay that was a buy now for about $4500.00. There was at least 300 figures, the peking gate as well as other walls and towers. I just couldn"t swing that deal then. But in retrospect somebody got the deal of the century on that.

A few years back, and you might have been able to order the whole lot new from Trophy. So perhaps it was a fair price at the time Now you cannot get any new sets from Trophy so you have to look on the secondary market.
Would it be possible to see some of your Boxer figures.

Well i have about 16 of the 30 some sets. I really need to figure out how to post pictures on a thread instead of in my album.
