I’m a big fan of the War Along the Nile and have over the last year or so managed to collect the whole range so far (and am eagerly awaiting the latest releases due sometime in the next week or so).

At the London show in March of this year I came across an old Hinchliffe model kit of a 7pdr screw gun and thought it would make a fine addition to my WAN collection. The next thing was to find some suitable crew figures, WB make some nice artillery sets in their various ranges but none that would suit as the Camel Corps. So the only option was to press into service some existing CC figures and modify them as Royal Artillery – easier said than done.

These are the donor figures along with an ACW General who gave up his arm with binoculars! The cartridge bandoliers and weapons had to be removed, the arms came off and swopped over with a bit of repositioning as well, gluing and filling, sanding and a bit of scratch building here and there and then the repainting to try and match the existing colours. This has kept me busy for a few days.

The screw gun (a 54mm scale model whilst the figures are a tad bigger and have bases) looked quite small so I cheated a bit and made a base by sawing the top of a JG miniatures rock and repainting it!

The result is what you see on the next set of photos – all I need now is some shrapnel bursts!

I’m in the process of rearranging my WAN displays and these will be added along with the new releases for a new photo session in the near future.

Great job on the conversions Jeff, pity though you couldn't find a way to work in a little more GREEN paint ..... and of course a nice shiney coat of gloss would really those figures pop! :p^&grin

Splendid conversions Jeff that would definitely receive a winner's rosette from me. And the paint job ain't half bad either ^&grin

No seriously Jeff a superb metamorphosis from infantry to gunners-Really excellent work. Plus I am so pleased an ACW General also lent a hand-or rather an arm to help with one of the conversions.^&grin

Thanks Bob! ^&grin .... the ACW is the only range that WB make that has suitable figures with bino's, so general armless it was! ^&grin
