Well who likes the new Panther. (1 Viewer)

It will definitely have an effect.....Buyers will scrutinize product quality and exspect more for increased prices...Also will have to decide if they really want an item for their collection or can I live without it???.....

Hi guy's let's get back to toy soldier stories. Who likes the new Panther as I think it is a beaut. I do not have one so I will be getting one for sure. I now have a Tiger and one has to have a mate for it so the Panther is a must for me. This will make the Three big German ones for me. Who else is getting one. Simmo.:)

This Panther looks very nice though I'm hesitating as some of my display shelf real estate just got swallowed up by the Tiger I and Firefly :). Will probably get it in the course of time, then next on the list would be (yes Normandy!) Stug with top machine gunner, Panzer IV (both with side skirting and zimmerit if applicable), and 88mm AT gun plus crew and heavy tractor... :) Believe they may all have been done previously in some way or form by K&C, but missed the proverbial boat and wouldn't mind seeing new and improved versions..

Yep, would be good to see them back in new improved versions.

I would take a TIGER over a Panther any day ;)

Wow - so much German Armor out there - hard to keep up.

Vezzolf....

Thats the difficulty deciding what you want as compared to what say you could do without I am sure the latter gets overlooked for the former more times than not.

Not sure how you can be so certain the price will effect sales; your opinion may or may not come true.

225.00 did not deter too many people from the Battle of the Bulge King Tiger, nor did a price north of 200.00 effect the sales of the latest Tiger tank.

Time will tell if you are right or out in left field with your prediction...............

Just said something similar earlier in another post Panther and Pak. As the prices increase a new bar is added by collectors above the new price increase and allows them to justify (if needed) they will slow down or stop at the next level but, when that comes its another raise of the 'I won't go past that price'

There will always be people willing to pay some price that others will not. Sales have slowed not stopped which, although expected with economy and price rises does not mean no buyers. Collectors just have to re-adjust their habits when prices increase.

Another thing that needs to be considered is this hobby attracts new collectors all the time, this fact gets lost on many long time collectors.

So, the new collectors don't say " I remember when a tank was 129.00, figures were 19.00 and four figure sets were 79.00" because this is not their point of reference, they can only go by what they see at the present time.

Perhaps afew years down the road they will look back on when they first started collecting and compare prices, but for now, it's really not an issue for them..................

You would think that the Higher prices for New items would have encouraged more people into collecting the Retired items that are now at Low prices because of the current economy. However as there is currently very little interest in the recently retired items it makes me wonder how many collectors have stopped altogether, or have narrowed their focus to One range or even a section of a range. Imo there is a price point that longer term collectors simply won't go above, let's hope enough newbies enter the market to take up the slack.

It may be that the recently retired items were produced in much larger volumes than older pieces or even currently new pieces. The problem may be that so many were produced that the market just isn't big enough to absorb them all except for those really popular ones.

The new panther looks nice, but my Normandy Panther with the 4 outstanding figures at half the price of the new one, is looking better to me everyday.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that. ;) The Normandy Panther was my first Tank purchase from K&C and it still sits pride of place in a display case surrounded by SS figures etc.

I think the 4x tank crew help really make it a truely excellant K&C model.:D

Nice photo too.....thanks for posting Eazy!!

While I like the new Panther, I'll have to stick with my old ones.

I'm sure no one will agree with me but my favorite one is the first one, WS 23. It has a certain character!

I agree. Although the move to more detail has taken place (though not enough for some) I really prefer the older stuff and, both camo and winter versions of the panther have great charm. I said a little while back its almost 'folk art'
