Crusader / Civil War Christmas for me !

My wife bought me several of the new release Crusaders and Saracens - I love the details & color on these new figures. The new Crusaders & Saracens are really something to see - WOW !
And my Mom bought me some more Union K&C Civil War figures - to start of the collection ! Woo-Hoo !! :D

Many other wonderful gifts and presents from Wife, Son and Mom - a very nice Christmas. Although it took the turkey HOURS to cook.

I will have pictures of all soon when I have them in the diorama.

A Crusader Christmas here. Three mounted Saracens, one Saracen loading a crossbow (retired), and a Crusader knight on foot with sword and shield.

I know this is not the cooking forum but the HOURS comment leads me to suggest trying a cider brine prepared turkey; it is a relatively simple overnight soaking of the bird in a cider, salt and water solution that produces a very moist and tender turkey in much less cooking time (and no, it does not come out tasting salty). There are many recipes for it on the web or more specifically at epicurious.com. It sounded odd to us when it was recommended by a friend but it works great and greatly simplifies the holiday meal preparation logisitics.

Wow Chuck! Awesome gifts, especially the Shangri La Mustang!! I have the original 1991 version of the Shangri La, and its a great plane. By the way Chuck, why don't we get together and have lunch with Morgan?

Here are some pictures of one of my Christmas presents, the U.S. NAVY 1920 – 1940.

Until the U.S.S. San Pablo comes along here are some pictures using the figures in a Naval Landing Party scenario.

The only toy soldiers in the house this Christmas were for my son, Alec - the Britains Christmas Firetruck set.

But I had such a good year toy soldier wise I certainly can't complain.

I managed to draw a complete zilch on the TS front, but my son got a Wraith built fort and a load of Britains Deetail 7th Cav, Indians / Native Americans :)eek:) and some recast Herald cowboys and cav to go with it.

So that's me and him sorted for the next few days. :)

I was given one figure. It came from my brother who picked it up at "The Armoury of St. James" in London. It is an excellent 54mm of Lord Nelson. I do not know the maker but the bottom is marked Spirova (manufacturer or artist?).-- lancer
