I found his dress blue cap but his mother took his white one and "lost it" ...:redface2:

A wonderful way to honor your father Larry and fantastic find with the photos. Chris

Larry,

What a terrific shrine to your father’s service! I have shrines for my grandfather’s WWI servive and two of my uncles’ WWII service, but sadly I don’t have any of my father’s service photos or uniforms.

I do have my dad's whites but (as I mentioned) not his cap. I was hoping to find a mannequin and display the uniform that way.
I suppose I could find an original 1945 US Navy cap … but would that violate the principles of the display I wanted to have.:rolleyes2:

Where I had actualy militaria from my family members, I made it the centerpieces of my display, but for my Grandfather, all I had was a few photos of him in his uniform in an old family album I inherited when my mother passed. I bought a real WWI uniform that was as close a match to the uniform in the photos as I could find, and used it for his display. I don't think adding a 1945 Navy Cap to the display would violate the principal of the thing, and it would be great to be able to display his uniform on a mannequin. You can get mannequins for reasonable prices on Amazon.

I can see that being "permissible".
I have the trousers, top, neck tie and even his duffel bag, so I suppose a single white hat wouldn't be a bad thing. I'll check out Amazon; thanks for the lead.

Louis, how do you like your Jeep? Any problems? How's the cabin noise? I was looking into the Jeep with the truck bed and wanted your input.

I love my Jeep, and I test drove the Gladiator (the Jeep with the truck bed) and thought it was great. However, I will say that as the Mud Terrain tires standard on the Rubicon model wear, they are very loud. I am in the process of figuring out what I am replacing them with, as they are getting annoying.

The P.O.W. made Highlander in Battledress arrived, and my son displayed him on the shoulder of the WWI Black Watch Corporal's Uniform:

Yeah, but those tires give the jeep that rugged look. Being in Hawaii, I thought it would be great to drive around with the top down. Thanks for the input Louis.

Thanks, Gents. Much appreciated!

Great stuff as usual Larry. Thank you for sharing such a personal collection.

My father was in a reserved occupation during WW2 but was in the Home Guard defending the oil refinery at Milford Haven in South Wales and the Sunderland flying boat base at Pembroke Dock as part of his duties. No medals were ever issued and he had no items from his time getting bombed by the Germans. Like many he never talked about the war as where he was doing his duty it must have been pretty bloody at times.

The Steiff "Young Hero" Serbian Infantryman arrived, and is on display with Turkish, German and Austrian "Young Heroes":

Back in 1936 and 1937, Alpha Farnell, a British Doll company, made three highly detailed 16 inch tall dolls of King George VI in the Uniforms of the Colonel in Chief of the Grenedier Guards, the Gordon Highlanders and the RAF Regiment. I've managed to pick up the first two and have a lead on the third:
