What else do you collect beside toy soldiers (1 Viewer)

The Steiff 17-inch 1911 German Infantryman arrived, as did a 1920's or 30's Lenci 15-inch Italian Soldier Doll:

Doug (Combat) and I look forward to the horror movie where these dolls all come to life and you and your family have to fight them off to save yourselves..................and just when they have you cornered in your attic, all your toy soldiers come to life and come to the rescue...................

That will give Louis something to think about at night. {eek3} Chucky and Annabelle are the most well known but I get a kick out the of the low budget "Robert" series.

George,

What about all the full size and child-sized period uniforms on mannequins (I presently have 40+, many of whom carry real period rifles, swords and bayonets)? Do they come to life, and if so, are they on my side, the dolls side, or are they busy fighting the uniforms of their WWI enemies?{sm2}

I just picked up this WWI French child's patriotic officer's uniform, probably worn by the child of a French officer who wore a matching uniform:

I have 8 M1s and 4 carbines which I shoot at a local range from time to time. I'm also a GCA member and look fwd to reading your article Scott. :salute:: Chris

Recently acquired what I think is a reasonably unique piece of Scottish regimental militaria. It is a replica of a regimental drum-major's baldric to the 92nd Regiment of Foot The Gordon Highlanders. If any further interest see the following article; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/2022/04/a-replica-baldric-of-drum-major-of-92nd.html

Jim,

Very cool! I have a drum-major's baldric from the Highland Division which is displayed with a Gordon Highlander's Pipe Banner.

Finally obtained the M1 Garand I have long coveted:

If you've never had the opportunity to fire one, you're going to love it, Louis!

I love my M1! Mine went through a house fire 2 years ago. My safe cooked for an hour plus...when we finally cracked open the safe there was some serious smoke damage but the M1 was still in functional shape.:salute::

Cheers!
Jake

Who doesn't love the "ping" of the ejected clip.

Love the M1 Garand. I have 4 of them. 2 of them are from the cmp program and the other 2 were bought at auction. My son and I collect WWII rifles. Some fun stuff when it comes to stamping and serial #s especially on the German stuff. Very cool Louis do you have any others?

Jake,

Thank you! I have shot my friend Morgan's several times at ranges, it is my all time favorite rifle to fire.

Sahara,

I have a Lee Enfield with the pig-sticker bayonet, a Japanese Type 99 with a bayonet and a Russian Moisen Ngant. I intend to find a 1903 Springfield, a WWI Era Mauser K98 and a French Lebell rifle.

Nice collection Louis. Do you have pics or have you posted pics already of the Mauser?

I don't have the Mauser yet. It is on my "want list." I presently have the Garand, the Lee Enfield, the Type 99 and the Moisen Ngant. I have a local gun dealer looking for the Mauser, the Lebell and the 1903 Springfield.

I, too, have been stricken with the firearm-collecting disease. At last count, I have around 25 -- only one is relatively modern. Some of the more unusual pieces are:

-A Murata T22, the Japanese rifle used during the Russo-Japanese War

-Three inter-war police guns, including a Dreyse M1907 and a Steyr-Pieper M1908

-A Beretta M1931 Regio Marina, the same rare variant carried by Abba Kovner

-An M95 FEG Steyr-Mannlicher, the Austro-Hungarian rifle of the First World War

Anyone here is always welcome to go shooting with me if you find yourself in New England!

I use my 1903 Springfield with scope as my long range hunting rifle. My Garand is my short range bush hunting rifle. Great for quick reaction and acquire targets. I was thinking about getting a M-14 and AR-15 to complete the combat rifles from WWI to the modern age, but gave up. I have 3-daughters and bad enough they'll have to deal my toy soldier collection when I pass on.
