Because the big guns look cool pulled by elephants :wink2:. . . take a look at the photos I asked Brad to post for me on the Lesinski thread.

Some very nice dioramas on show that I think answer the question better than any words could tell.

I wouldn't say I collect any one type of military hardware (i.e. artillery, tanks etc.) as a preference over others. I simply find crew served weapons interesting.

From a miniature perspective they allow for variety in the posing and animation of the figures that goes well beyond the standard infantry poses.

Okay guys,

I love artillery even more than armor and this why ....

Not an export Hollywood producer but someday maybe, LOL

I'm an acw artillery reenactor and I own my own Bronze 6-pdr and limber. I just love ACW Artillery. They are just beautiful weapons. There is nothing prettier than a well turned cascable attached to shapely breech, then forming a powerful reinforce and those two strong trunnions jetting out from either side and then the delicate chase as tapers down to the muzzle from which belches destruction! That is my gun on an original Confederate artillery position near where I live in my Avatar.

but the number ! reason I collect artillery pcs is......My 6-pdr wont fit in the house!

Captain

Will you be at the Manassas reenactment battle this yr? I'm thinking of going myself. I was at the Centennial battle in '61.

Beautiful pieces you have there. Chris

Yep. All registered. That is always the hottest event to go to. The humidity is always awful there in July.

Captain , Beautiful cannon ! I'm green with envy. I was at 125th Gettysburg with the Union. I crouched with our unit on the slope under the Yankee gun line while they Hammered away during Pickett's charge.Awesome display and yes VERY LOUD.
I still go to the local July 4 events here in Oregon, just to see and hear the guns.

Sorry can't agree with this cooment about Best Looking.....

I'd go for the 18th century guns, they were very ornate pieces of art, with scuplted dolphins, royal crests, detailed gun carriages and brightly coloured gunner uniforms.

ACW was drab, with grey or green carriages.

I'm partial to 19th century black powder era horse drawn field artillery.Horse teams, limbers , outriders ect is just more interesting to me than anything drawn by a motorized vehicle.
Lots of cannon and crews in my collections, but only 4 full limber teams, which is enough.Unless someone decides to make a French Napoleonic Line or Guard horse artillery set .That I could not resist.

I much prefer the single trail of the later years to the double trail of the Awi period.
