Since a few days, Market Garden becomes hot news on this forum. New para's on the way.... But why was this operation called Market GARDEN? The big stars could have an explanation for this name but to my opinion the reason was because German soldiers are crazy about playing in the garden.
Here is a picture of a typical Dutch garden house and the brick walls, bordering the private gardens in Oosterbeek/Arnhem. And guess who is there skirmishing?...

You can see that these soldiers have good manners: they are nor destroying the tomatos, neither the crops!

They are preparing a nasty ambush

Hold your fire, Heinrich! Let them come closer....

Enjoy your garden

No point in squashing tomorrow nights meal now is there. The new FOB figure with the wheel barrow would make a nice addition to this scene, thanks for sharing, cheers, Robin.

Hi Guy;

The house is made by bricoleur himself! Some plywood and 2 mm cork for the imitations of the bricks. Cork is a very realistic material. It will take a lot of time to cut all the pieces (about 8 mm/3mm) but that's the meaning of a bizarre hobby...

The walls are from JG Miniatures (high walls from the Hougoumont range) and the vegetables are ordered in the US. (www.scenicexpresss.com.) To my knowledge the most extensive dealer of all kind of scenery products. Some of the items are hard to find in Europe, I believe.

Cheers;

I'm using my greenhouse as a sort of temporary "photostudio". Indeed, 100% natural light so that you have natural shadowparts. Some people don't like dark shadows in a picture but lights, coming from different angles, never can give you a scale of warm, bright spots and reflections on the subject. Artificial lightning will give always the same result, which is boring. On the contrary, you never know how natural light will react and each shot you take is unique and an adventure.
Best regards;
Eddy;)

You can't beat natural light for added realism. I'll have to give it a try soon. Super looking photos :salute::

Eddy:

Really great photos! Thanks for posting your "Market Garden" photos!

Love your Vegatable patch Eddy....Great little diorama, very original idea, and top marks for your brickwork!!!!!!!!!.
Thanks for posting.

{eek3}Eddy this is so beautiful. Love the setup and the light you're using in the pictures.

Greetings Robert

Thank you Iron Brigade, Steve and Robert for the support.
After the Germans, its up to the British forces to react. Unfortunate the British tanks are waiting for the infantry on the road to Arnhem. They have to kill time by drinking tea and study the maps over and over again.
The driver is lunching. As a starter he had some Spam....DSC_Brit.JPGDSC_Brit2.JPGDSC_Brit3.JPG

Like the figures and poses - love the idea of using the greenhouse! (must give that a go). But - just one small point Eddy - all of the tank drivers I have ever known - don't do "lunch". More like "Get some scoff down my neck". Officers may lunch - but tankies definitely don't!:D;) johnnybach

I rest my case, Johnnybach...

Monty meets Mister "U" and Sosa about some incidents in Dutch gardens.
He says: "So, our German friends want to play in the garden? Roy, is there any reason why we should not join this party? Let's have a BBQ on the bridge!"
"And Stanislaw, make sure that our American friends from Eindhoven also get an invitation!"

And a few hours later, our boys were on the way...

Of course with a nice present for the party: some 6 pound firework

Will be continued;
