I view the wooden vehicles as a piece of art. They are super rare and more of an iconic piece to a collector. It has nothing to do with how accurate the piece is. If I was a super collector, this is a rarity and a must have at any price!

I think you're looking at it from a different angle than a collector who may be trying to get old K & C. I would rather have this than the new stuff.

I think its ridiculous money but, having two early wooden AFV's then its nice to know that some crazy people are out there with more money than sense if I ever fancy building an extension!!!

I notice that while there were 27 bids, there were only four bidders. One dropped out at $258 while another dropped out at $398. That the other two remaining bidders would go that high is amazing! I wonder if anyone knows what the previous high price was for a K&C wooden AFV?

This piece isn't wood as far as I know. It was marketed as resin in the original brochure.

What I do know is that it is a VERY fragile piece. The close up pic links aren't working for me, but I'd like to see some detail photos of the model. I hope there aren't any nasty surprises for the buyer.

btw, the original price for that thing at least $300, probably $350-75 back in the day. The wooden Tiger which preceded it was >$400

The Jag Panther is probably rarer than we know, as the word on the street back then was that a good percentage of them were broken during shipment. You wouldn't believe the box this thing came in. It was one step up from a paper bag, with some tissue inside it.

That usually happens when you have two bidders that get the "I have to have bug".

i would disagree with some of the comments first whoever it is has good taste 1 a rare jagdpather 2 a rare T34 in winter who cares if he works for his money or not it is obvious he has a passion for the hobby and and if wants to spend his money on the hobby they love who cares to each their own . i have seen newer items such as k@c ww1 airplanes go for 800 ???? depends on the collector. i think also keep in mind not saying this happened but some sellers will have somebody they know bid high against someone on an item to see how high they can get it if they drive it to a point and a bidder bites the cost is on them but if they dont it could be relisted at a later date or sold to a private party through the hobby it has happen to me a few times in the past.i agree with jazzmen they are rare pieces and i am not suprised at the price at all i think any higher then this price would then be getting a little crazy.but hey if he can afford them good for him they are great pieces and a little bit of k@c history.

Good for the high bidder. I hope he enjoys it. I never like hearing or reading other people criticizing how someone spends their hard earned cash. You can't take it with you, enjoy it while your still above ground. Better to buy this then some burnt toast with an imaginary image of Jesus on it. Maybe I should buy a few of these so I don't spend so much on drinking and gambling.
