Zach's Collection (2 Viewers)

I just added my first Wm. Hocker Durbar figures. I have many Beau Geste and a few Britains. The scale is quite a bit smaller than Beau Geste. I am a huge Beau Geste fan and still think they are the best Durbar pieces around, but this is a fun little set. Hard to really compare as this set was over 1/3 the price of the Beau Geste.

Nice to see you finally were able to purchase those two Bavarian figures, Great figures and the reason I started collecting First Legion over 10 years ago, wow time flies. Congratulations

I think your mystery figures is another German figure, I think this one was is made to represent Bürgermeister Nusch of Rothenburg fame. Google him and the story of Der Miestertrunk (The Master Draught) . best

It took a while, but finally got the Bavarian’s!! I was starting to think I’d never get them

The Bavarian figures were the first figures ever created and released by First Legion. The Bavarian standard bearers are the rarest First Legion figure ever released. If I recall correctly there were under 40 of each regiment produced.

I was lucky to discover First Legion with this first release and was able to buy mine direct from them for the super cheap early issue prices. George was the ONLY dealer representing First Legion at that time and would put them on display at shows. Again Congratulations they are a fine addition to your collection.

Congrats on finding the missing Bavarian's Zach!! I remember when FL started up and the Bavs were available on their website. I remember thinking how nice the figures looked as did their website. Then one day when I was over at Ed Ruby's house I saw the Bavarian's all lined up in formation, and I thought to myself they were the best toy soldiers I had ever seen. I remember sharing those sentiments here too. Great stuff, thanks for the photos and enjoy!

Should have bought em Joe, Talking of the old days I actually found this forum doing a web search on First Legion. Its really cool to see what they have become as a company and look back at the catalog of releases.

Wouldn't be great to have a reference book of all FL releases by year with photographs and information (date of release, number produced).
For newer collectors like myself it will be a great resource...instead of going to the sagers website and trying to figure out what used to be available.
Think similar to what is available for Britains. Yes FL does not have that long of a history but great to have such a source of information.

Here are some figures I just got in the mail from (what I believe is) a new manufacturer. These are from the Native American range from Team Miniatures. I saw a few samples in Chicago and am quite pleased with them. I list the prices paid here, not as a "look how cheap" or "look how expensive", but just as an FYI as it's a new company that you may not have seen.

Excellent figures Zach! Thanks for previewing them. Any word on if the company plans to branch out from the West?

Thanks,

Brendan

I remember seeing some mounted mongols. Not sure what else there is

Zach,

The team Miniatures figures look very nice, congrats! I gotta keep an eye on this outfit. Very much like K & C stylistically but with more detail.

Hi Zach,

Gebhard is correct.
The Tradition figure represents the Buergermeister (mayor) of the Bavarian City Rothenburg ob der Tauber during the 30 Years War.
As the story goes, the City was besieged by the Imperial Army under Genera Tilly.
The City’s council was condemned to death and the City to be burned.
The councilmen, in their distress, offered a Welcome Drink to Tilly in a beautiful large tankard, holding as much as 3 1/4 liter of wine.
Tilly was calmed by that gesture and in return offered a deal.
If there was someone around who would chug the entire huge tankard of wine, he would spare the city and all the people.
Buergermeister Nusch volunteered, and to everyone’s amazement he indeed chugged the entire tankard and the City was spared.
Up to now I only knew that Elastolin of Germany had produced a figure of Mayor Nusch, until I saw yours.
Nice addition to your collection {bravo}}
