Things that annoy me (2 Viewers)

I retired in 08 and if you recall the market tanked then. I did not panic and left everything ride. I now or at least 2 days ago had quadrupled my money without adding a dime. In my mind this market downturn there is a direct cause that need not happen. What do I care if shoes are made in Asia and they are paid $3 a day? If I can buy those shoes here in the USA at a good price that's what I care about. Anyone that wants to work here can. Those Asians making shoes are not causing unemployment here. I love the senator from Louisiana, John Kennedy. He said last night there should be zero tariffs and whoever can produce the goods at the best quality and price will be the winner. Every night I listen to Bill O'Reilly on his 15 minute "memo" on You Tube. I really respect what he says although he is so full of himself. But when he says " I don't know what the outcome of this will bring" I become concerned.
Come on Tom cheer me up as I also respect what you say and you are NOT full of yourself!
There are certain facts. First, the US has paid for the national defense of many countries around the world since the end of WWII. Both in Europe and Asia. Second, many of these countries impose tariffs that make it impossible to sell certain US products in these same countries. They also charge the US for the military bases that defend them. Many countries have entire economies built around the influx of US money. Yet they treat us as the enemy. That system has resulted in many people profiting. It is, however, not sustainable or fair in the long term. The US is $38 trillion in debt and counting. Something has to give. Those chickens are coming home to roost.

Regardless of the merits or lack thereof of the tariffs, it is very enlightening to see how the media differs in the coverage. On CNN, the tariffs and stock market losses are the top story. It is the end of times from which we will never recover. On Fox News, they hardly mention it.

This is unreal. Four billion dollars? That's billion with a "b." You have to wonder where that money comes from even if these are legitimate claims:

"Los Angeles County has tentatively reached a $4 billion agreement to settle more than 6,800 childhood sexual abuse claims dating back to 1959 and allegedly perpetrated in juvenile facilities or foster care, officials said Friday."

This is what happens when your network has an agenda for or against the current sitting president.

The really ironic thing is in 2008, what happened was due largely as the result of multiple global forces arising from the actions of many thousands of people building up over time until something snapped, but this one is entirely the result of one idiot doing something with the stroke of a pen that millions of people know is stupid.

The Maryland legislature is about to pass a bill to establish a reparations commission. The state is $3.3B in debt and forecast to grow to over $6B by 2028. I grew up in Maryland and moved out over 50 yrs ago and thank God everyday I will never live there again and feel only pity and sorrow for friends and family who still live there. And that includes some on this forum who live there. My condolences.

I should get reparations for dealing with them for over 30 years!

"The Wolf Man" reboot. This movie is god awful. It makes the original look like Ben Hur. Just stupid and boring. Most of the movie involves a family running around in a house and listening to sounds outside. Just a snapshot into the age of Idiocracy. Universal has really botched the remaking of the old classics.

"Makes the original look like Ben Hur"................LOL!!............I'm dead.

I thought the remake from a few years ago with Anthony Hopkins as papa wolf was very good, thanks for the warning on this one, hard pass.

I live here and have no words. It is becoming unlivable.

I heard the s-word mentioned in the weather forecast for tomorrow. As in snow flurries. Unreal. It's bad enough that it has rained for the last week.

What happened to the release of all the Epstein documents? Bondi - who I always want to call Blondie - was vowing to get them all released and reading the riot act to the FBI for sitting on them. I think they even forced some agent to retire over it. Now we are weeks down the road and nothing. Same deal with the Nashville shooter's "manifesto." The FBI sat on it for years claiming it would endanger the public to release it even after being sued by the parents of the murdered children. A couple days ago they suddenly said the "manifesto" that they were reviewing and wouldn't release never existed. Instead they released a few notebooks with nothing to see.
