Display Ideas to make the most of your space. (2 Viewers)

Ha Ha thanks Joe, but I doubt our government would allow a Toy Tomb. Here's a photo I took of my lower terrace, maybe I could get a Viking Longboat style funeral, or at least a riverside cremation and get kicked into the River, Hindu style  That said, I'm in no hurry mate.

Matt, That's a glorious view- I'm very jealous!! You are very blessed. Thank you for the photo. It's like a dream location. With that view I'd be in no hurry either! Cheers, Joe

Thank you Joe, I have lived in this small house on a lake in the Sunshine Coast for Ten years now. I am now fully retired and had some health issues that have been sorted with medication etc for now. Meanwhile I enjoy doing renovation work to the place, I helped build Two terraces down to the lake a few years ago then repainted the house exterior and I'm currently repainting the interior. I recently added some trees and plenty of plants in pots on the terrraces, but they are proving problematic as flowers etc stain the paving and I have to water them frequently due to the current drought here. Lately I'm considering changes to my model displays between bouts of painting, any excuse to stop painting works for me, no wonder professional painters want to charge so much money ;)

I've moved all the display cabinets to the wall, put the doors back on the storage cabinets and now deciding what to sell on eBay first.

The bed and the models have gone but I'm still using these Four open display cabinets against the large East facing window. However the glass shelves are proving to be terrific dust gatherers and it's proving difficult to add enough diorama accesories to glass shelves.

I am over the dust cleaning and want to change my displays again, but torn between going back to diorama displays in the cupboards in this hobby room (see pictures above), or maybe buy some new some cabinets to put against the window and or the brick wall.

Any ideas guys?

And I would like to see some more photos of your display for some input.

Latest photo of my hobby room (converted 6M x 3M garage), noting sofa bed in lieu of Queen bed and lots of clothes etc from bedrooms as I'm repainting them, yes it's a mess.

I'm not sure that the single brick wall would support wall mounted shelving, not worth the risk IMO. Sooo I'm thinking of buying several solid timber display/bookcase cabinets with about 15'/35cm shelf depth, and put them along the window where the current glass shelf display units are. That will reduce the natural light in this room but too much light tends to fade models and I have spotlights etc.

Matt, you certainly are getting the most out of the space you have. Your new idea with the timber cabinets will look very nice.

Love your collection, Matt. Your home and war room is equally impressive.
Thanks mate

Speaking of war, did you notice the cards laid out on the white table? These are cards from The Lord of the Rings - Trading Card Game ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Trading_Card_Game ) which was released back in 2001, not long after the first Peter Jackson LOTR Movie 'Fellowship of the Rings' was released.

Both my sons started playing this game when they were 11 and 9 years old, I used to drive them to the local 'cardhouse' every weekend where they would play other kids, usually older than them. I got into playing the game, and collecting the cards, against the recommendation of the card shop owner that maybe thought I would take the game/card collecting too seriously (he was correct ha ha).

Anyhow we had a lot of fun playing the game for Three or Four years, some at State Tournament level. It's now a tradition that we play when we all catchup at Christmas etc and having my a$$ kicked at the recent New Year 'family tournament', I had decided to redo my Elves/Uruk Hai deck for some pay back next time.

Of course most 'normal' people will have no idea this game existed, as it was more for nerdy kids, and their dads 🤪 😀
