I recently had the pleasure to meet with and chat with Andy of King&Country at his San Antonio shop Kings X on the 30th of September. The evening lasted about 3 hours in a cocktail party like setting with food and various drinks on hand.To say meeting Andy and discussing the hobby with him was a pleasure would be an understatement.He is a true class act ! He was more than happy to discuss past, current, and future K&C product releases with the guests on hand which numbered about 30 people or so. Also on hand was Laura McAllister and the whole Kings X staff in attendance. A very nice gift was given to all who showed up for the "Battle of the Bulge Beer and Bratwurst" event. A figure from the Chicago show was given out in addition to a packet containing 4 each 8 x 10 sketch drawings done by Andy himself. Now..........Down to business. Some of the information that Andy had volunteered concerning future K&C releases ........
1) Eastern Front WWII Collectors: Be ready for around 7 or so Russian figures and several Russian WWII armored vehicles to be released during the second quarter of 2012 !!! Yes.....The Russians really are coming !!!!
2) Stuka fans: Be prepared for 3 different versions to be released. An early war version, an Africa Korps version, and a Winter version. Andy said these planes are planned to be produced in "Metal" and not in the traditional polystone due to the size and design of the aircraft.Now the kicker to it all......Be ready for an all metal K&C Stuka in 1/30 scale with a price point of under $300.00 !!!!! These should be available towards the end of 2012 !!!! I will be getting all 3 !!!!
3) A special surprise coming pertaining to Texas history and the great frontier ! More to follow........

It was also great to meet Carlos aka desk11 desk 12. Another awesome collector that I had the opportunity to talk with at the event. Thanks Andy for hosting this truly fun gathering, and again it truly was a pleasure to meet the man behind the Elite brand King&Country {bravo}}

Happy to give you the news about the Stuka Mate ! Seems like Andy is flipping the tables on pricing on this one. Under $300.00 is reasonable for an all metal K&C 1/30 scale aircraft....especially when its a STUKA !!!

Sounds like they will be playing catch up on the Stuka as Figarti will be previewing theirs in London in December, with an issuance probably in the first part of 2012.

I don't know the answer but I am assuming this is experimenting in different mediums at different prices. Corgi has done metal for years correct?

As Tom said they may be trying different mediums, perhaps for price and because some planes can't be made in polystone. Perhaps, they are taking a different direction. Experimentation and innovation is the hallmark of successful businesses.

It's really great to finally have a date nailed down for both the Russians and the long promised Stuka. I'm also elated to hear that the Stuka will be in a DAK paint scheme and will be under $300.

Hello to All and Thanks to those who gave Thanks. The information concerning the Russians and the Stuka are straight from Andy during a direct one on one conversation in which he stated if I wanted to go public with the information it was ok with him. Other than describing 7 or so Russian infantry and several Soviet vehicles coming out in the second quarter of 2012, he did not give any more details.I did not want to ask about specifics as I felt he had been good enough to release the amount of info as he did. The Stuka being done in "Metal" was Andy's solution to being able to deliver a quality model without it falling apart. Again he was quite specific about the 3 different versions of it; Early War , Africa Korps , and Winter. He has been obviously listening to the collectors here on the forum requesting a Stuka.Looks like we will get a choice of 3 variants ! Be flexible on the release date but this baby is in the works !!!! Carlos aka desk 11 desk 12 eluded to in another thread about a Vietnam series being done. Andy seemed enthusiastic about going forward with this line. No further details were given. I look forward to chatting with Andy at the Texas Toy Soldier Show next May in San Antonio. It should be the best show in San Antonio to date. A big THANKS to Martin, Adam, Joan, and JP at KINGS X for their very friendly help and hospitality during the event at the Hotel lobby with Andy and in the Kings X shop itself. I went back the next morning to the shop and picked up a few more K&C goodies as the temptation was hard to resist.

I think we all agree that the Corgi 1:32 planes are the best value for money out there.
Release schedule seems to be problematic though.
Their Mosquitoes are really great.

I'm sure diecast is great but I think toy soldier collectors are not necessarily buying diecast or vice versa. I say necessarily to give myself some wiggle room :wink2: Personally, I'm not interested in diecast and I will be quite curious to see what the K & C models look like when they are ready.

Right now, we have planes made of mixed media (John Jenkins), polyurethane (and maybe some metal parts, not sure) (Figarti) and polystone (K & C) so this could be an interesting development. I would also be interested to know if the projected Stukas are 100 percent metal or some combination of metal and other mediums.

I was glad to see the forthcoming Me 109 without a pilot so I hope the Stukas are equally pilotless.

Andy did not elaborate on further details concerning the Stuka releases, but one can only imagine if they will have rubber tires, folding landing gear, etc. It is good news to know that good things are coming down the road for collectors. :wink2:
