2013 Ashes (1 Viewer)

"We were quite useless but no one played as hard as we did. We took it very seriously. Some of our team even played sober if it was an important match."

As I said, we played for twenty years and there were some disappointing seasons but we also won 7 - 8 premierships! I wish I could do it all again. Cricket - it is a magic game.

Do you remember the day that you and your brother put down three catches off three consecutice deliveries? Or the day that I scored 15 off 88 deliveries ... six of them off edges?

Less than 40 needed now. Only one wicket left.... surely not????? I didn't think it would get this close.

"It is going to be terrible when we lose!!"

Surely we can't fall at the last hurdle two innings in a row!

What a test.
Twenty to win or one wicket depending on how you look at things
Who says cricket is boring

It's 10.30 Sunday night. Going well I won't be in bed until 11.30 at the earliest. Will I even be able to sleep then!

Jack am I able to call you without waking your wife? (Yes, hard to believe Captain Optimism is married)

Nice referral....

Sorry Jack I didn't see your reply. Chat during the week.

Sigh......

Well done England!! Well played Lads!!:salute::

What a superb game of Cricket, surely one of the best in Ashes history, both sides going toe to toe and not wanting to give an inch. With a legendary performance from Agar and a superb performance from one of the best bowlers in the world our boy Anderson:salute:::salute::

1-0 up with long way to go.

I was at shops and saw Aus only needed 15 and got home and we'd won{eek3}

Well played England and well played Australia, bloody superb, nail biting, oh god I don't want to look at the score kind of game!

On to Lords on Thursday guys!:salute::
I am looking forward to the second Test...regardless of outcome.......I was disappointed Haddon got out on such a slight nick...but that is cricket......in good...hard fought matches the game aint over till the last wicket.....I hope the second Test is as good as the first and the Aust top order batmen contribute to the game this time around...cheers TomB

What an excellent start to the series. It was interesting to see that pre-series assessments were basically spot on. The Australian batting would struggle but the Australian bowlers would go some distance to even things out. Ironic really that they did it as batsmen! If Haddin had got those extra 14 runs it would've been the highest 10th wicket partnership to win a game, which in conjunction with the 1st innings record would've been the most extroadinary set of things. These freakish stats aside, England were the better team. I thought the Australian bowling in the 2nd innings was excellent, Clarke's captaincy too. Bell's hundred in these circumstances was a very impressive innings indeed. He was Shane Warne's bunny a few years ago but now he is every bit the complete test cricketer. Australia has considerable scope to improve. We already look better than we did a month ago. Rogers should work out very well. If everything 'clicks' Australia will win games!

I had to go up to the TV screen to see the nick, what about the benefit of the doubt!!!! Oh well, I guess the English were the better team...just! {sm4} Well done, now for the second test.

Tom

I only seem to be enjoying 10th wicket stands AGAINST England!

Well that was a day of Cricket wasn't it!{eek3} I was working all day yesterday and could only keep looking in now and again to see wickets going down all over the shop . England played very well indeed to end up with such a lead but lost three early . We need at least another two hundred I'd say.
