2015 NHL season (1 Viewer)

Good game between the Pens and Caps last night. Both teams looked loose and confidant. OT hat trick by Oshie. Should be a great series. The winner likely takes the Cup.

The Sharks are the only team up 2-0 in their series after winning the first two games at home.

I have to admit I am surprised at Nashville's effort so far. I was worried about playing them after I saw them play Anaheim but they don't seem to be the same team as they were in round 1.

That was a tough seven game series the Preds played with Anaheim. No doubt took something out of them while the Sharks were resting. The Blues got a charity call in OT to help them even that series. Always hate to see a game decided by the refs. 0-2 is a lot different than 1-1 heading back home. I think the Blues take care of business now. The Caps are struggling mightily to find some offense. Ovechkin better find his game soon or they are in trouble.

This has to be my favorite playoff schedule ever. A potential seven game AHL series between Ontario and San Diego in which they will play a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 home schedule due to scheduling conflicts at the respective stadiums. Fortunately, that is Ontario, CA and not the one in Canada.

Pacific Division Finals (best-of-7)
Game 1: Thursday, May 5 – at Ontario, 7 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, May 7 – at San Diego, 7:05 p.m.
Game 3: Sunday, May 8 – at Ontario, 7 p.m.
Game 4: Friday, May 13 – at San Diego, 7:05 p.m.
*Game 5 – Saturday, May 14 – at Ontario, 7 p.m.
*Game 6 – Monday, May 16 – at San Diego, 7:05 p.m.
*Game 7 – Wednesday, May 18 – at Ontario, 7 p.m.

Again, speaking of announcers, Michael "Doc" Emrick is the best there is in any sport going right now. And this is coming from someone who gets to listen to Jon Miller on a regular basis.

The Caps had nearly 50 shot on goal last night and couldn't get it done against the backup goalie for the Pens. Game 4 is a franchise make or break game for them. If they blow this series, they become one of the greatest playoff choke teams in history. They haven't looked good down the stretch after having a great season.

The Capitals are getting Smoltzied by the Penguins and some back up nobody tomato can, standing on his head all series long.

Hockey is the only sport where one guy, ie, the goalie playing out of his mind, can steal you a series or even a cup, aka, Dryden in 71, Parent in 74, Thomas in 11 as prime examples.

Series is far from over, but it's not looking good for the Caps........................

I am really looking forward to tonight's game. I think it is the best series going right now.

Caps lose again, this time in OT; take away that Oshie hat trick in game one, including the game winner in OT and this series would be over by now, Smoltzie getting outplayed by a rookie nobody, he let in two softies between the wickets tonight.

Ruh Roh if you're a Caps fan, they have to win three strait........ain't over till it's over, ain't over till the fat lady sings and all that, but it's despiration time....................

The Caps have blown so many series where they have been up 3-1 that maybe they think they are in a great position now. LOL. All they really have to do is win at home and one in Pittsburgh and they force a game seven. They haven't looked right since they clinched the playoff spot. A great example of how teams in hockey run hot and cold. The Pens looked like they might not even make the playoffs earlier in the season. Fired their coach etc. The Caps looked unbeatable. Now the Pens are outplaying them with a backup goalie. It will be a major choke job if the Caps go out in five. Looking like a Pens-Blues Cup.

It will simply be another choke in a long and illustrious history of Caps chokes. Nothing new or different. The real shock will not be the choke, it will be if the Caps come back to force a Game 7. -- Al

Nashville and San Jose is turning into an interesting series. Triple OT last night. I don't know why the NHL starts these games so late as no one on the east coast could possibly watch until the end. They must have still been playing into the early morning. The only series that bores me to tears is Tampa-NYI. There is something screwy with the NHL playoff format when so many great teams are paired against each other in the early rounds and the scrubs are playing in another bracket. It should be the Caps-NYI at this point.

Only the morons in charge of the NHL could take something so simple like a playoff and turn it into rocket science.

I'm totally confused how teams qualify for the playoffs and how the seeding is established, it's moronic, but that's the NHL for you........

Someone explain why Nashville is playing San Jose? Dallas, St Louis & Nashville are in the Central, San Jose in the West
Since Dallas ended with the most points and in the west, Nashville had the least points of the above 4 and also in the west. Dallas should be playing Nashville and St Louis playing San Jose. Hope you understand where I coming from here.
I,m almost to the point where either don't make the playoffs are loose 4 straight in the first round. These games are killing me.

Nice win for St. Louis today.

I couldn't help but laugh because after their loss in game 4 more than one "expert" said that the Blues' season was done and it was time to look towards next year.

As Michael Wilbon (from ESPN's PTI) recently said, most people don't know how to watch a 7 game series anymore, no matter what the sport.

Smoltzie and the Caps live to fight another day, it's on to game 6.

When my Dad was a police officer, he played in a softball league on a team with all BPD personnel in the 70's. Derek Sanderson owned a bar called Daisy Buchanon's and they sponsored my Dad's team. My Dad became friendly with a lot of the Bruins players both through the bar and for getting them out of so many jams back in the day (my Dad has some beautiful stories from those days..............:wink2:); several of them told him if you are up 3-2 and game 6 is in your building, that is the toughest game of the series as you don't want to lose and have to go to the other teams building for a game 7. Players get real tight for a game six, so we'll see how the Penguins respond..........................

Thanks George! Game 6 is in St Louis tomorrow.

Big difference from being tied 2-2, then winning game 5 on the road and going home with momentum for game 6 vs being up 3-1, losing game 5 on the road and going home for game 6 and the neck collar starts getting tight, or other parts of the body start to tighten up.................

Another consequence of the bizarre NHL playoff format is that now a team like Tampa gets several days off to rest while the Pens and Caps might fight out to a game seven. So a rested Tampa gets a beatup Pens or Caps team to start the next series. As I understand it, the NHL playoffs put the division teams in the same bracket regardless of their standing in the conference with the top team getting the weaker of the two wild cards in their bracket. That makes for early round pairings like the Caps/Pens that really shouldn't happen until the conference finals.
