2018 Baseball season (1 Viewer)

I shouldn’t be talking and apologies. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black. The Os relievers over the season is 4.73 whereas the Mets pen, which has been awful this season, is 4.89. The Mets starters are better, 4.00, right behind the Nats.

Well, it looks as though the O's bullpen can take some credit in waking up the Mets bats, if today's game against Philly is any indication.^&grin -- Al

Against my better judgement, I watched some of the game on Facebook. The Phillies have been kicking the ball around. I’m sure their manager will read them the riot act between games.

Giants got to the LA pen again and won a close game 2-1. This series has been a rollercoaster all season although the Giants are on a streak right now, having taken 3 straight in Dodgertown. Classsic baseball series, but I wish I could stay up long enough to watch them all. The time difference between the coasts makes it hard for me. Anyway, hope the Giants complete the sweep tonight. It would also give them the season series. ^&cool -- Al

Al:

To your point I stayed up to watch the entire Giant's game that went into extra innings. It didn't end until 1am CST (I am at our home in Texas) and to top it all off they ended up losing to the Dodgers!

Oh well, I guess that is the life of fan of a West coast team.......

That's dedication. Way past my bed time. Lost the game, but it was a good series for the Giants. -- Al

Holy Smokes Batman...
24-4...
you're expected to lose with 4 errors...
but 24-4...
the box score read like War and Peace...

The Giants placed rookie pitcher (and one of their few bright spots for the 2018) Dereck Rodriguez on the 10-day DL with a hamstring injury on Thursday. The injury was sustained when Rodriguez stepped into the physical altercation between Yasiel Puig and Giants catcher Nick Hundley during Tuesday night's game.

Jon Heyman is reporting that the Phillies are very interested in signing Harper at the end of the season.

There’s also speculation that Murphy may get moved by August 31.

Been no mention of the Harper or Murphy moves at all on the local Nats talk show. If there was anything to those rumors, they would have led the show with them, but nothing said. What has been mentioned is that the O's Adam Jones has cleared waivers, is eligible to be traded, and that Philly is very interested in him. Don't know how this has all kicked up again after Jones refused to be moved at the deadline. Maybe Jones has had a change of heart. Who the heck really knows? -- Al

Right now it's a true crap shoot. I'd bet the Cubs right at this moment. -- Al

Al:

Agreed on both points.

It would be interesting to see a Red Sox and Phillies World Series as it would be a "rematch" of the Super Bowl.

It’s premature to pick any team as any team in the mix can win it so it’s really too early to say. It could just as easily be the Dbacks, Dodgers, Braves, Brewers or Phillies as anyone else. Impossible to tell at this point.

Huge series in the AL West gets underway tonight (in a few minutes actually) with the Astros visiting the A's.

Giants lost a tough one tonight, 2-1 in extras to the Reds. They could be 7 games out in the division race by the end of the night.

Mets run production is in a downward cycle, from 24 to 6 to 2{eek3}

Apparently, when they scored 15 or more runs in two consecutive games, they set a modern day record. They're also one of the few teams to have 20 scored against and to score 20 in the same season.

Houston is 1-6 in their last 7 games...Oakland is poised to pass them with Seattle looking at the last wild card...gotta get healthy and start winning or they won't even make the playoffs...

Mets have had a nice road trip so far. With one game to go, they are 6-4. They have played better of late. Doesn’t mean much but thank goodness for small favors.
