Leland shook his line up up yesterday and all I'm hearing today is what a Wyle E Coyote super genuis he is.

Ok then.

If I were Farrell, I'd bench Victorino and Drew, start Nava in right, X at SS, move Pedrioa out of the 3 hole and down to 8th, put Nava in at #2, Ortiz to #3, Nap to #4 and go from there.

He'll never do it.

They need a line up shake up.

The Tigers pitching is very good, but it's not THIS good, 12 hits last night and only 3 runs.

They need to lay the wood to Sanchez tonight and go from there.

If they don't, it's goodnight Irene.

Why? They'd only be done 3-2. Not impossible. If you're going to tell me Scherzer and Velander, I'm reminded when Chili Davis used to beat up on Doc Gooden when he was unhittable. When asked how he did it, Davis responded "he ain't God man."

Not sure if you've noticed, but outside of the Ortiz grand slam, they've scored exactly 6 runs in 4 games, they've been beyond pathetic offensively.

Not to mention their approach and plate discipline has been horrific, taking fastballs right down the pipe and swinging at junk in the dirt; the last Pedroia at bat, he swung at a ball that bounced three feet in front of him, just awful.

They scored 2 runs off of Scherzer and Verlander in their two starts, does not bode well if they have to beat both of them.

Beyond frustrating watching them flail away at Doug Fister junk last night.....................

X is in, Middlebrooks and his vortex of suck is out.

Also, Leyland is going with the same top heavy line up as last night, Lester had better be lights out with 6-9.

Another good game last night. I still have faith that the Tigers can still pull it out. However some key players like that waste of space Fielder need to step it up. Unbelievable Fielder gets paid 28 million a year and this is the return he gives us in the playoffs. Oh well on to game 6.

What a nail biter that was, the last four innings were excruciating to sit through as the Tigers just kept coming and coming, Taz was not very good out of the bullpen, Koji was lights out, a five out save.

I have a feeling this is coming down to a winner take all game 7 as Buchholz has looked shaky in both of his playoff starts, we'll see what happens tomorrow night.

Playoff baseball at it's finest, no doubt about it, two excellent teams in a dogfight.

Yeah, it was a close one. My impression is that the game turned on the double plays that Detroit hit into. Potential big innings were quashed. Detroit is playing at a disadvantage with the injured Cabrera and the immobile Fielder, whether in the field or on the base paths. At any rate, Detroit has this year's best pitcher going tomorrow afternoon so their chances are pretty decent to extend the series to the 7th game. One thing for sure, Detroit has to take it from Boston as Boston won't give it away on their home field, not with Buchholz pitching. Game 6 is going to be a great game to watch, regardless of who wins. There is some great baseball being played in this series and whoever wins will have really earned the pennant. -- Al

I don't know if this is true but some sports type said on the radio yesterday that where a team wins game five in a seven game series (where the teams had been tied 2-2), the winner wins the series approximately 70% of the time.

Cards have lit up Kershaw and lead 9-0 after the 5th. It looks like we will have a rematch of either the 1967 or 1968 WS for sure. An early congratulations to the Cards. -- Al

Not so fast; a touchdown and a field goal and the Dodgers take the lead...................what a beat down.

I,m the only person in St Louis that is sad tonight. Blues lost in a shoot out with Winnepeg in a game they totally out played the opposition.

Gary,

You have got to be kidding! {eek3}

Blues are probably lucky tonight as only one person was paying attention.

Saw the very interesting stat that the Cards have played against the Sox and the Tigers 3x each over the years. Cards are 2-1 against both of them. Taking just the last 50 years, this World Series will kind of be a rubber match for whoever plays the Cards. Cards played Boston in 1967 and won and in 2004 and lost. Cards played Detroit in 1968 and lost and in 2006 and won. So, rubber match. Garnering little attention is the fact that this will be the Cards 4th World Series in the last 10 years, the most in baseball over that period. Cards are also 11-7 all time in the Series, the second best total wins in baseball history. Cards are just a superior organization. -- Al

If the Cardinals can somehow win another 17 more WS titles and get to 28, I'll die a happy man.

George, this wouldn't be a reference to the NY Yankees 27-13 record in the World Series, would it? Cards were tied with the Dodgers for the second most WS appearances with 18, but this one will put them alone in second with 19. Heck, that means the Cards only have to go 17-6 in their next 23 WS appearances in order to catch and pass the NYY's. Of course, this assumes that the NYY's won't win another WS in the next 100 years or so.:rolleyes2: -- Al

George, this has been a tremendous series so far. As you said, the Detroit starting pitching has been dominating. In 4 games, 27 innings, the starters have only yielded 14 hits and 3 runs. It is the bullpen that has been the weak point for Detroit, 8 innings, 10 hits, and 7 runs. Boston has gotten to the bullpen and beaten them and that is all that matters, as long as it continues. Agree that Boston has a tough draw in Sanchez, Scherzer, and Verlander, but only Sanchez has a win in the series. As long as the bullpen for Detroit has a say, Boston is in it, but it is living dangerously. Boston needs to beat Sanchez and Scherzer as Verlander in a Game 7 will be a tough nut to crack.. Verlander has been beaten by Boston already, but that run Boston scored in beating him 1-0 the other night is the only run Verlander has given up in the post-season as he has pitched to a 0.39 ERA in 23 innings. I like Boston's chances in games 5 and 6, not so much if it goes to a game 7. As Boston proved, Verlander can be beaten, but twice in the same series is asking a lot. In games as close as this series has been, Ortiz has proved the well timed hit is all that is needed, along with a good closer, in order to win. This series is what baseball is all about and it has been a pleasure to watch. I'm hoping for another well-pitched classic tonight. -- Al
Congratulations to Boston. They did what they needed to do and won it in 6 games. Won it the way they have been winning with the timely hit and lights out relief pitching. Once again Detroit got a good start but the relief pitching failed. Notice the key? Relief pitching that does it's job. Boston's did, Detroit's didn't. Well it's on the WS and I am expecting a good one based on the way things have gone. George, all credit to your Sox, going from the mess of 2012 to the 2013 WS. :salute:: -- Al

Their relief pitching was always the rub; I mentioned this early on. You just can't win without it. This was their issue last year as well.

I like the Sox to win it all, in six or seven.

Not the outcome that I wanted to see but when Miggy and Fielder don't show up then its a given. Boston earned it and I wish them the best of luck in the World series. Fielder is something else. Come Monday morning Detroit talk radio when be tearing him apart. Just pathetic.

That was a great series and a great game 6. Two great franchises and two great sets of fans. It was a class move by the Boston fans giving Scherzer a big ovation when he exited the game and a class move by Leyland to not make excuses and credit the Sox as the better team.
