Come on, April. -- Al

I hadn't looked at the O's overall record in Spring ball in awhile 15-6 at the moment, not to shabby and that's with Adams, Stropp playing for thier countries last few weeks, so as you say Al come on April, I'm ready to play ball!!!...Sammy

Rumor has it the Yankees are trying to get Vernon Wells.

The over the hill stiff with no power who pounds fastballs into the ground for ground ball out after ground ball out.

Yes, THAT Vernon Wells.

Guaranteed he'll hit minimum 25 bombs because we all know the formula; over the hill corpse plus pinstripes equals home run hitting machine down there in Williamsport.

And Hafner will probably hit 30, with 29 of them being at Williamsport down the right field line.

NYY's could use a break at this point, having now admitted that Jeter will be on the DL when the season begins. Haven't seen this kind of DL disaster before. Four crucial position players out. Things just start to break when someone hits the 35+ age mark. Rebuilding comes to everyone at some point. -- Al

I watched Vernon last year on the Angels games. If the Yanks want him, they must be desperate. When I first saw the report on Bleacher Report that he might be traded, I thought it might be to a team like the Mets because their outfield has to be the worst in baseball in god knows when. Vernon would be an upgrade.

On the play when Jeter shattered his ankle, it started with the crack of the bat, ended with the crack of his ankle; just his luck, he finally got to a ground ball to his left too.

The Red Sox might even finish ahead of the Yankees this year; Jeter, A-Roid, Horseface and the Grandyman all out like you said.

And you are correct, things do south after 35, you don't heal as quickly as you did when you were younger.

O's finally named the Opening Day starter, Jason Hamels. So close I can smell it. Monday for the Nats, Tuesday for the O's. Counting down and starting to shake with anticipation. Must...have...BASEBALL! -- Al

Going to any games next week?

I'm thinking of going to one of the games.

Hi Brad. Won't be going to the games in person. Have mobility issues, both physical and transportation wise. I will be set up to watch both the Nats and O's for the entire season as the local cable system carries MASN which broadcasts every game of both teams. Didn't miss any last year and hope to see them all this year, as well. Even if both teams play at the same time, I see them both because of my oh so brilliant dual TV arrangement, which enables me to watch both of the MASN channels when broadcasting simultaneous games.
Hope you have good weather at the game and that the home team wins. ^&grin -- Al

I saw a late report from the Mets saying Santana has to have surgery on his left shoulder again, knocking him out for the year, again. Once the injury bug hits, it is tough to shake when you hit the mid-30's in age. Bad break. -- Al

He's lucky his arm didn't fall off last June after that 134 pitch no hitter; great job Mets, they got their no hitter, but the guys career was over then basically, what did he have after that, an 8+ era?

Wrong. In his five starts after the no no, he had approximately a 2 ERA. Then, his ankle was stepped on by Reed Johnson and things went downhill. That's when he had the 8 ERA.

However, in all likelihood he had put a lot of stress on his arm during his career and the chickens have come home to roost. I don't know if his career is over but his Met career is. I wasn't really counting on him anyway.

Finally here. Opening Day (er, night) has arrived. It's been a long, cold, lonely winter. But spring has sprung. Play ball! Nats play tommorow at 1pm and the O's open Tuesday. Gonna be a good week.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

No doubt Al, it has been a longggggg off season since that last out was recorded for the O's in New York in game 5, I can't wait until Tuesdays game, the O's played some great Spring ball to follow up from last year and are about as healthy as they have been for an opener in a while, if this season can be just as exciting or maybe a little better then last year it will be a fun Summer, let's go O's!!!!!!!, time to play some ball!!...Sammy

Brad, that was a good interview. It is going to be interesting to see how the O's can do with all their parts in place and healthy. Buck is right about that ball and the foul pole. ^&grin -- Al

Al,

Thought you would enjoy it. Best of luck to the Os this year. Don't think the Nats will need it ^&grin

Brad

Great day for the Mets so far. Cowgill has hit a grand slam! Niese looked good in almost 7 innings of work.
