First game is in the books, Sox lose 2-1; well at least they didn't lose on a home run hit by an admitted steroid cheat.

Sox hit at least four bombs today that died in the wind, lucky for Buck and his plucky band of O's it's April and not July.

And their new closer is a piece of work, he should carry a gas can out to the mound instead of a glove.

George, the O's closer is a surprise to me, although the O's had to pick someone after dumping Johnson. Hunter is a converted starter with 4 career saves prior to today. He had a decent year in the bullpen last season so here's hoping he can carry over or it's going to be closer-by-committee. -- Al

Mets lost a game their bullpen threw away because the effin GM can't put a decent pen together. Maybe this is good news. Mets usually win on opening day but suck the rest of the way. Maybe they'll reverse course this time.

The best part of that Orioles win today was afterwards, fans streamed out of the park onto Eutaw Street and found people dancing in the streets, flipping cars over and looting stores. A news reporter asked one of the car flippers/looters why they were overreacting to a win on opening day, to which the flipper/looter said "There was an Orioles game today?"..................:tongue:

Yep, we're off and running all right, I'm in mid season form already..............:wink2:

It averages out to over $43,000 per at bat.{eek3}More than the average salary in the U.S. for a year!{eek3}Is anybody really worth that for playing a game?{eek3}How in the world can the owners make any money paying those kind of salaries.{eek3}{eek3}{eek3}

So I'm watching MLB network tonight and they showed a gruesome scene in Anaheim tonight; during the ceremonial first pitch, Vlad Guerrero throws it to Don Baylor and it's low and in the dirt and as Baylor turns to try to block it, he proceeds to shatter his ankle.

Then to make matters worse, he tries to stand up and it bends sideways.

Holy @#$%; talk about nasty.

I just love sports talk radio. Here in the Bay Area today with the A’s losing last night and the Giants winning the big talk is the A’s are going to finish in last place and the Giants are going to win the World Series.
