Hi Al, yea I thought after the last road series we (Orioles) had built some momemtum but after that KC whipping not thinking so:mad: but good news as Manny M. looks to be back in a week or so and D. Bundy is on target for a June start!! and hoping that C. Davis is back after the 15 DL as is ready to go, been a tough schedule to start this year, but we're right in the thick of things with all the injuries, but even when we get healthy we need better starting pitching...Sammy

As a baseball fan I can’t wait for Machado’s return. He is one of the game’s brightest young stars and entertaining to watch.

Jason, his return should be anytime now. He is ready to go having just gone 8 for 12 in 3 rehab games. Should be this week. And it can't be soon enough.:wink2: -- Al

More bad news for the Nats on the injury front. Bryce Harper's injured thumb is no sprain. He tore a ligament in the thumb and will undergo surgery tomorrow. He could miss up to 2 months. And the hits just keep on coming.:( -- Al

So tonight, Cano returns to New York.

To a chorus of boos and signs ripping him for taking more money in Seattle.

Wait; MFY fans boo a guy for signing elsewhere for more money?

They as an organization have spend more than the GNP of the continent of Europe the past thirty years.

Talk about irony.

It just struck me that with Harper hitting the DL, the Nats now have their starting # 3, 4, and 5 hitters on the DL. Plus their lead-off man just came off the DL a few days back. The Nats haven't been able to field their A team practically since Opening Day. No wonder they are stranding runners all over the place. -- Al

Al:

Right now it may just be a matter of hanging on until they get healthy. Despite all of those injuries they are still in 3rd and only 3 games out of first.

Last night, with the Brewers playing without their #3, 4, and 5 hitters and facing a 3 run deficit, the 'Crew came back to win it in extra innings. This is the second day in a row they erased a 3 run deficit, all without Braun or Segura. For the past couple years they couldn't touch the Cardinals, now they are finally showing some moxie and keeping in the game.

At 20-7, this is feeling like more than a flash in the pan. They are an amazing 11-1 on the road (against the likes of Boston, Philly, and the Cards).

Don't wake me up...I'm enjoying the dream.

Pete, it is remarkable and the longer it goes on the more the team believes in itself. The road record is really impressive. It is a fun ride when your favorite team puts it all together. ^&cool -- Al

Jason, I sure hope you are right and that this season doesn't turn out to be one of those years where potential is deep-sixed by the injury bug. So far it's been one injury after another. At one point the Nats had the most players on the DL of anyone in MLB, and may still have for that matter. It's just a might frustrating.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Hey Sammy, Manny is back in the line-up tonight! Took the first game from the Pirates, maybe Manny will help us sweep. ^&grin -- Al

Well he didn't set the world on fire with his hitting last nite but soooooo glad we got the sweep and getting Manny back is huge!!! waiting on C. Davis to get back and we finally may have the regular starters playing together, but with all the injuries and only half a game behind the evil Yanks, as a once proud owner said "just win baby"...Sammy

Manny is back and helped the O's sweep, more with his presence and glove than his bat, but he is back. Nick Markakis had an excellent day by going 3-8 in the 2 games and hitting a Hr in each game, his first two of the year. Look out NY, O's have won 2 in a row and are on a roll! Well, what passes for a roll so far this season. We'll take it. -- Al

I think the feel-good story of the year so far has to be Tim Hudson. Giant or no Giant what is he doing at his age, coming back from a horrific injury is incredible.

Just took a look at his stats, Jason, and they are most impressive wins and ERA wise but the really outstanding stat is that he hasn't pitched less than 7 innings in any of his starts. Plus, he has only walked 2 men in his 45.2 innings. That will get it done. A superb job. -- Al

Go figure. The O's obtained Ubaldo Jimenez to anchor their starting pitching staff. He had been a disaster. A notoriously slow starter in April, he was true to form in his 5 starts this April, with an 0-4 record and a 6.59 ERA. So tonight, his first May start, he throws possibly the best pitched game the O's have seen this year. He went 7.1 innings, giving up 3 hits, 0 runs, and fanned 10. Got his 1st QS of the season and his 1st win as the O's won 3-0. If he can keep this up, the O's playoff chances just improved. Baseball is a funny game. -- Al

Took a look at the standings for the first time this year as the season is about 20% of the way through and the AL East is mediocre to say the least.

Louis' MFY's are leading the pack with a stellar 16-14 record, while Sammy's Orioles are breathing down their necks at 15-14, .5 games back.

The Red Sox are 15-17 and haven't been at 500 since they were 2-2, way to go defending champs.

At this rate, 82-80 might win the division..................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz.

Giants got there first sweep in Atlanta since 1988 this past weekend.

I am not going to get too excited but so far, so good.

Just so long as it is the O's who are 82-80....:wink2:^&grin -- Al

I'm excited; they have the second best record in baseball (Brewers are first??............ok then....), second in home runs to Colorado and you know all about their ballpark, Morse is the beast other teams wished they had signed and their lead off hitter is healthy again.

I love it..................
