Royals win again, 2-1, up 3 zip, they've won 7 in a row now, what a roll they are on.

That bullpen is money, whatever it takes to win, they get it done.

Buck had better find some answers asap, day game tomorrow.

Forget about channeling 1979 and we are family (besides, that was a Pirates thing, they beat the Orioles after being down 3-1), forget your lucky drawers; time to channel the 2004 Boston Red Sox, the only team in MLB history to come back from an 0-3 hole.

Best of luck with that one.[

That's ok George, you're probably right as the O's look to be on thier last leg, but in this year of 2014 the Baltimore Orioles won the AL East, and made it to the ALCS, I can live with that and a promising young team that will be back in 2015, hopefully a little more healthier then this year...Sammy

I think Cards are from toast. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they came back and won the NLCS. Heck, they're only down 2-1.

As as far as the Os, yes, they may be young but you have to take advantage of your opportunities when they present themselves because you can't count on that happening again. If you asked them if they were happy to get to the LCS, not a one would be content with that and if one said yes, I would want him off my team.

Hey Brad, the Orioles had 14 losing years in a row, then finally in 2012 put it back together and got in as a Wildcard, slipped a little in 2013 but rebounded with a great 2014, I'm sure no player for the O's is content right now as are the Oriole fans disappointed big time with the ALCS, but 14 hard years can make you appreciate some of the better seasons that's for sure...Sammy

I think it is over.....for the Cardinals!

I am not going to say much about the O's, too many friends on here are pulling for them. I share their hope. I remember seeing an interview with a player from that 2004 Sox team (I can't remember who it was). They asked him how did they win for in a row? He answered that they did not see it as four in a row. They saw it as winning one game. The next day or night, winning one game and so on and so forth. Can the O's win four in a row? I am not sure but chances are they can win tomorrow.

Good luck to your Giants Jason, if not the O's I will certainly pull for the other black/orange team...Sammy

Sammy,

I understand losing so many years in a row; after all I'm a Mets fan. I was thrilled when the Mets got to the WS in 2000 but they let the chance to win go by (Game 1) and proceeded to lose meekly to the Yankees.

However, when the brass ring comes by, grab it! That's what the Royals are doing.

Brad

I think this last win was the defining moment for the Giants winning the NLCS. Bumgarner will pitch at least once more in the next 4 games which will probably be a W and from there I think the Giants can win another.

Also, the Cards are a different team without Molina. I know it sounds strange since he is only a catcher but he really is the heart of that team.

To me, a defining moment comes when you put a team away, like the Royals did last night, not when it's 2-1 and the other team gave you a gift.

Cards were 21-19 without Molina this year, not great, but not terrible. He is excellent at throwing out runners but I don't think the Giants are a big running team. The pitchers didn't fare that well in his absence but from what I have read they were going through a tough stretch anyway and Molina might not have that much a difference. In addition, his batting stats were down somewhat this year. So, yes, they will miss him but not as much as you think, not to mention that his subs apparently did a creditable job in absence.

I keep waiting for Buck to tell us he's figured out who stole the ships strawberries, rolling a pair of ball bearings in his hand the whole time. He's had this "What the bleep is going on here" look on his face for three games.

And who can blame him; the Orioles were heavy favorites going into this, most of the MLB talking heads had them winning the WS, the Royals were just a speed bump along the way to the title.

It's not over yet, the 2004 Red Sox proved that, so we'll see.........

Given that there is small chance the O's can advance, (still, 4 in a row is not impossible), I will be pulling for the Giants. Nothing against the Cards as they are my #3 favorite NL team, but the Giants are my #2 (were #1 before the Nats came to town). KC not on my radar though they are playing superb ball. I do like ex-O's pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, so I wish him well if he gets the chance to pitch in his first WS, but still want the Giants to take the series, providing that the O's don't make it and the Giants do. Still with the O's until the last out, though.:wink2: -- Al

Well, at least the O's haven't severed their own tow line. They're down by the bow and rapidly taking on water though. If Queeg has the solution, it's time to prove where those strawberry's went.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al would know better but Buck seems even keeled to me. It's not like they've been blown out, just not as good. Maybe he's thinking of his Miss State Bulldogs; he's a big fan.

If the Royals win this in four or five, it might be a good draw: everyone loves an underdog. Someone mentioned that back in May Tito Francona told him that the Royals are a very good team and would be dangerous when they put it together. He was right on the mark.

Brad, Buck has been very level-headed as the O's manager. Never seen him go off the deep end in terms of handling the team or in game situations. As you say, I don't think the O's have played badly, or been outmanaged, they are just being outplayed. A hot team in the playoffs is all but impossible to beat. O's have nothing to be sorry about but it's going to hurt if they don't manage to win a couple of games. -- Al

Nothing going right for the O's. Can't blame the pitching tonight. I blame Karma. The ex-O's pitcher Jeremy Guthrie shut them down for 5 innings and then the KC bullpen finished the job. O's couldn't hit squat. Down 3 games to zip and it is all but finished. Score runs, don't score runs, pitch well, don't pitch well, nothing is working. Being beaten in all aspects. Sad. I hope the O's can win 1 or 2 so they don't get swept and have to live with that all winter.:( -- Al
So far, Game 4 is like a replay of Game 3. O's getting good pitching but once again the hitters are hiding in the shed. The series has been a Jekyll & Hyde affair. The 2 games in Baltimore were games where the O's scored but their pitching failed, while the 2 games in KC have been the opposite, good pitching but no scoring. O's have 6 outs left to save the season for another game. Would like to see them do it but somebody has to step up and be the hero. -- Al

Sammy is doing his best to be the hero, he's wearing those lucky drawers of his; not a pretty sight, but he gets an A for effort............

Sorry Al.
Sorry Chris.
Sorry Sammy.
Sorry Gebs.

Losing stinks, but only one team wins it all.

You ran into a buzz saw and a team that's on a roll.

Boy, did we ever. Thanks for thoughts, George. 2014 was a fantastically fun season for me, what with the O's and the Nats both running away with their divisions, but baseball, as it always seems to do, kneecapped the favorites and left me bitterly disappointed. But baseball, as always, provides for those who dream and it is called Spring Training. My teams will be back in 2015.^&grin -- Al

I actually watched some of this series because of the 2 different approaches to playing ball. I heard a stat that said the Yanks of 2009 were the only team to lead the leagues in HR and win the World Series..It seems that little ball and dynamic pitching might be the new norm for winning championships. Maybe power or nothing hitters might press too much in the spotlight..I am not sure if I like watching pitching duels on a regular basis though..congrats to any KC fans and looking forward to locking horns with the O's next season..Good folks and great O's FANS on this forum..Michael

I know I speak for most O's fans around here when I say losing doesn't stink it %%%%en sucks ^&grin. Seriously its been a fun ride this year, and I'm just soooo happy to have a winning team back in town GOD knows its been awhile. If your looking in Buck and I know your not, I promise not to second guess ya. I think you did a FANTASTIC job this year and I'm looking forward to trying again next year.. regards Gebhard
