Baseball 2015 (1 Viewer)

Store looked sharp in the 8th. I didn't see all of the 7th but it looks like Williams is managing like his life depended on it.

It might be the spirit of those pin stripes worn by the Baseball Gods ,The Babe and Lou Gehrig :salute::. Think about it, all youse guys got are stinkin old worn out red sox..aint much to see there..except for the foot rot of mostly losing seasons..:(Michael

"All we have" is 3 WS titles in the last 12 years, that's what those stinkin old worn out red sox have gotten us, while the "spirit of fatso and Gehrig" got you 1 WS title in the same time frame.

You are one on a million Mike, would love to know what color the sky is in your world......................

Ryan Zimmerman wouldn't let the Nats lose tonight. Had 3 RBI hits (2 hr's & 2b) and each RBI gave the Nats the lead, including the winning run. Glad to be out of St. Loo with a win, a rare commodity for the Nats who are 3-20 in St. Loo over the last several seasons. Now we need to beat up on slumping Atlanta before we meet the Mets. :wink2: -- Al

Giants lose again to complete the sweep. A series with the team you are chasing can hurt as much as it helps. You can make up lots of ground but lose a lot too.

Good to see the Nats are hanging in there. Like I mentioned earlier, I am not taking sides as I consider Al and Brad to be my friends. I just want to see some good meaningful baseball between these two clubs.

Jason,
Your team and my team are in the same leaky life boat right now. Both 6.5 games back in the division title race and we are 1-2 in missing out on the WC, you all being 6.5 out and we're 8 out. Either route into the playoffs is a tough road. We both need to get hot and need a little help from other teams. We have 29/30 games to get it done. I haven't given up but I'm not too optimistic either. Let the games begin!:wink2: -- Al

Braves are playing terribly, 1-9 in last 10 so Nats should win 3 out of 4. Today they play whereas the Mets do not so they should be 6 GB after today. Assuming that both teams win 2 out of 3 this weekend, the lead will stay at 6. Although I want to win 2 out of 3 in Washington and put some further distance, winning 1 out of 3, although not desirable, is not a tragedy. Nats really need to win all three to make it interesting.

Quite true. If the Nats were playing anywhere near their capability, I would think a sweep of Atlanta possible, but given the Nats ability to turn any opposing pitcher into Cy Young, I think a split with Atlanta much more likely. A split would severely hurt their chances and to lose the series, fatal. Truth is, Nats need to win every series from here on out, AND take 5 of 6 from the Mets. By the way, I don't believe in Santa Claus. :wink2:^&grin -- Al

The Braves are playing as badly as they've played since the early 90s. I'd be shocked at a split. I'm hoping that the last series of the year will be meaningless but never say never. If they're meaningful Met fans may be jumping off the Whitestone Bridge ^&grin

It seems as though slowly but surely those great Braves teams with Glavine, Maddux etc. have been dismantled. Once Bobby Cox retired it was truly the end.

Fun with numbers: The Nats beat the Braves tonight 15-1. The Braves used 8 pitchers in the 8 innings that they had to pitch. I have never seen ERA's like this, starting with the starting pitcher, through to the last; 5.97, 6.05, 6.23, 7.00, 7.07, 6.00, 5.06, and 5.82. I think I see what the Brave's problem is, and only 1 of the pitchers was a 9-1 call-up.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I didn't see the game as I was in NY but Braves have a lot of work to do.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Giants are in a heap of trouble.

Brad:

Agreed. Their bats have gone cold at the worst possible time and as I have previously mentioned a one man rotation is not going to cut it. I am still hopeful about the playoffs but the reality is that those hopes are fading.
