Yeah, come on Eeyore, you can finally admit that it's over now......................Murphy is going to look good in pinstripes for the other New York team next year.

Him and Price will get dump trucks full of money thrown at them by the MFY's, because that's what they do.

Harvey, Price ,Tanaka, Severino...Murphy at 2nd base..Who the heck needs a farm system. Then you have to wait for the kids to mature to MLB ready, eating dirt all those years in between..Gotta love the fast track to restocking teams..^&grin Michael

I don't see Murphy playing for the Yankees. They have Rob Refsnyder ready to play the position.

Although Murphy is playing out of his mind, I don't see him back with the team. He will be expensive and they have other options there. Amid all the hysteria, you have to realize that while he's a good hitter, he is streaky, he's only an adequate second baseman and his judgment running the bases leaves something to be desired sometimes. After the Mets won in 86 they didn't sign Ray Knight so not signing Murphy wouldn't surprise me. Sandy has shown that he will make unpopular decisions.

First and foremost, congrats on the trip to the World Series. Dedicated fans like yourself deserve this great season. I continue to cheer the Met's on in the hopes that they deliver a championship to you.

After the 2010 WS, the Giants lost their playoff hero Juan Uribe to free agency. Despite the loss of his services the Giants went on to win it all again. These types of things are inevitable in today's baseball world. It would be nice however if they were discussed after the fact, not during so that the fans can enjoy their teams success.

Mattingly fired. That didn't take long. Imagine the Dodgers were up 2-1 in game five and now the Mets are in the World Series and DM is unemployed.

His name was mentioned in connection with the Nats job if he was to become available. Then again, so have a lot of others.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I wouldn't wish that on anyone. If you can't win with a $300 million payroll in LA you aren't going to win anywhere. DM was a disaster. He couldn't win a best of three playoff series with Kershaw and Greinke pitching four of the five games. He shifts the D around with a one run lead and doesn't have anyone cover third letting Murphy steal it on a walk. He allows his pitcher to throw a two out strike to the hottest hitter in baseball late in game five with two out and no one on. Series over.

Yeah, I don't see him in DC. Too many questionable moves and a lack of some basics. We had enough of that ourselves, so I don't see the Lerner's hiring Mattingly just to face the same problems again. -- Al

I don't understand how they spent $300 on the lineup. If they did they're not getting great value; going by the last game against the Mets, the first four hitters are good -- Kendrick, Seager, Gonzalez and Turner but Seager is a rookie and can't cost anything. The next four -- the catcher, Ethier, Pederson (who is also a rookie I think) and whoever plays LF -- are ok. I assume a lot of money is tied up in Puig. Obviously a lot of money is tied up in Kershaw, Greinke and the closer. Other than that, where is the money going, unless they overpaid.

Admittedly, in a five game series, they should be able to win when you have Kershaw and Greinke going twice.

I'm with you; where in the name of God with that collection of crap did they spend 300 million?

You forgot about the corpse of Carl Crawford, who makes 20 million a year.

People can rave about Theo Epstein and the job he did here, but what a horrible, awful, terrible signing that was, he was like a deer in headlights the entire time he was here, a complete and utter disaster of a signing........................

5 guys account for $112 mil of it, Ethier, Crawford, Gonzalez, Kershaw and Greinke. Greinke and Kershaw account for $53 mil of that $112 mil.

Thanks Jason. It has been a long season with many peaks and valley but we're at one of those peaks right now.

With the post season Murphy is having it may be hard for them not to resign him and they may have no choice. He can also spell Wright at third and back up Duda.

If you guys want to send me $700, I will gladly go. If not, I will watch from home. By the way, that is for standing room only.

It would probably be fun to attend a World Series game but in my experience the traffic, crowd, cost, weather, and general aggravation of attending events aren't worth it. In the age of HD TV, stay home, be comfortable and save a thousand bucks.

Price too steep. That buys a lot of TS, or food, or clothing, or medicine, or... I think you can see the games for free on TV and stay warm and dry at the same time. :wink2: -- Al

I've been to a couple of World Series games. In the 90s, I was given a ticket to one at Yankee Stadium, and in 2000 I had been a partner in a ticket season plan with a friend in Connecticut so I was able to go to game 4 at Shea Stadium (and also a NLCS game). Mets fans had sold their tickets to Yankee fans so I felt like I was in Yankee Stadium. Not too pleased, particularly when the Mets lost.

I was thinking of going last Sunday and I was monitoring the prices on Stub Hub and they kept dropping. Unfortunately, I had to drive my wife to NY for an eye exam on Monday so I didn't want to get home at 1 in the morning and be tired to face the traffic in NY (which was awful).

I will monitor the prices but I doubt I will go. The base price is $250. The 7th Avenue Line, a fan group affiliated with the Mets (and from whom I bought some merchandise once) were given the opportunity to purchase tickets but I was shut out.

I also saw that parking passes were around $500. That's just crazy. If I did go, I would drive to Flushing and take the Number 7 one stop back to Citifield. Most likely, I will be watching it home.

In 1992 I was given tickets to one of the playoff games against Oakland and two of the World Series games against Atlanta. It was a great experience, but I was offered insane money for one of the World Series games and would have sold it if I had been able.
