Mets lost again and got only two hits {eek3}

Their spring record is now 7-15. You guys may be worrying about the Os but their record is 10-14.

There are a lot of teams having bad springs like the Pirates (7-20), Padres (8-19) and Braves (6-18).

Mets and Cubs are trying to out do themselves in spring training; Cubs are 8-17.

ST can't end soon enough.

Brad, I've noticed that several teams aren't having good springs, and that the O's have been winning games by scoring scads of runs, but their starting pitching has been consistently horrendous. The Mets, Cubs, and Pirates will answer the bell as they are fundamentally set. The O's have a major problem and I am seriously doubting that their pitching will come around at this point. We'll know in a few days.:wink2: --Al

Mets have added to their pathetic spring by losing their 13th in a row to the Nationals, who were perfect against them this spring. Someone needs to give them a wakeup call.

Nats played the last ST game today and won, ending ST with an 18-4 record, for what it's worth. I like the look of the team but the bullpen is largely unproven. Hoping that ST carries over to regular season.
The O's have cut RHP Miquel Gonzalez, who was supposed to be a major starting pitcher for them. He was bad last season and worse this spring, so not surprised. Problem is an already thin starting rotation is now thinner, especially since RHP Gausman will be on the DL to start the season. Some unproven ST performer will get a shot, maybe Wilson. Let the games begin. -- Al

Brad:

Like Al, I feel your pain. The Giants are 11-19 and have looked mediocre at best. I am with you, the regular season can' start soon enough.

The O's Gallardo had an excellent outing in today's game, going 5 and yielding 1 hit , no runs. Finally, an O's starter looks sharp. About time.:rolleyes2: Now, let's get the season underway on this good note.^&grin -- Al

Another loss :(

14 in a row.

The good news is that they can only lose one more since ST ends tomorrow.

Guys, it's spring training. Talk to me in July, when you can at least begin to have an idea of the kind of season your team is having. Unless your team suffers critical injuries more often then not your players are going to play to the backs of their baseball cards. So calm down. As of April, everyone is tied in first place at 0-0, with a 162 game marathon in front of them. Enjoy the beginning of the season, when we all have hope. My team could finish in 1st or last place in a competitive AL East. I am going to enjoy the part of the season when those possibilities are only possibilities, and reserve my frustration for when the first big injury screws the Yankees season up.

Yes and no, Louis. You sound like Terry Collins. ST is for getting your work in and all that. However, in the latter part of ST, when you start playing your regulars more, you should start to play better which, in the case of the Mets, they didn't. You just can't throw the results out the window and say it's only spring training. The conventional wisdom is that if you play a little above or below 500, you've had a good spring.

Now, if they (or any other team that did poorly but is expected to contend like the Cubs) get off to a fast start it will be forgotten but if they don't it will be a harbinger and Terry will be on the hot seat.

I said it last year and I will say it again. If your team does well in spring training then it is a clear indicator that they are going to have a great season, if your team does poorly then spring training is meaningless.

Opening day is on the horizon.

Let's go Fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!! just one more day, been a long off season and I'm ready for that first pitch come Monday afternoon!! nothing like opening day, never forget my most memorable, (kinda strange) but I was a Junior in High School and after track practice we would roll up into the local Dairy Queen, the store had the O's opener on the intercom for some reason (usually just piped in music) anyhoo, the game went extra innings, like 12-13 innings and the O's finally won!!! any other opening day memories???...Sammy

So here we go, the 2016 is about to start. Obviously I want the Giants bring home another title but if they don't????

In no particular order I hope the Nats, Red Sox, Mets, O's, Pirates, Yankees, Braves or Brewers win it all (I know I am missing a team or two but you get the gist).

It's Opening Day! About freakin' time. A triple header to choose from while I await the Nats and O's openers tomorrow. Will watch parts of all 3, no doubt. May as well OD on Day 1.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

"Opening day." The most hopeful day of the season. Good luck everyone. I hope my Yankees stay healthy, play competitively and find a way to make the playoffs.

The Pirate's Francisco Lariano delivers to the plate...Ball one!...and the 2016 season is under way.^&grin -- Al

Good start for the O's and Nats, each 1-0. And San Fran, DC says you're welcome for Denard Span.:wink2: -- Al

Trumbo looked great, 4 for 5, and glad to see Weiters get the base knock for the game winner, as well as a pie in the face :)...Sammy

O's pitching was encouragingly good, too. 7 innings of 2-run ball by the bullpen.:smile2: -- Al
