Well, that's it. I somehow thought that Gillaspie -- a sub -- would do something.

Familia and the post season don't seem to go well together.

Good season, just not good enough.

And that is why closers do not come into tie games...Shame, even though a Yankee fan, I do root for the Mets when my team is not involved...Michael

Post season baseball is something special, the spotlight shines the brightest and some are not up to the task, a double, walk and three run bomb and the pitch that was hit out was a meatball right down broadway.

Thor pitched his rear end off, he deserved a better fate.

Imagine the Mets got him for Dickey..................what a steal, a crime actually to rival the Brinks job.

Good for them, he's a horse in a league full of ponies.

Same with Mad Bum, what a beast.

Two shut outs in clinching games, can't do much better than that.

Closers don't do well in tie games, that is true. However, imagine if Collins didn't put in Familia and someone else gave up a run. He would have been roasted today. Let's face it, the Mets did very little against Baumgarner. Their best hope was to get him out of there but that didn't happen.

That the Mets were even playing this game is pretty amazing. I guess one of the big offseason questions will be Cespedes. He says he wants to stay with the Mets but he will be in demand.

The Mets had an incredible season. They lost 60% of their starting rotation but Collins somehow filled the gaps and kept the team in it. While I like Buck for MoY in the AL, Collins desrves it in the NL. -- Al

Playoffs in full swing. Games start at 1PM EST and run thru midnight. Must see-TV pitching matchup today is Scherzer vs Kershaw @ 5:30 PM EST. Actually, all 4 games have superb pitching matchups. Going to be a great day. -- Al

Toronto laying the wood to Texas again, up 6-1 in the 6th after demolishing them yesterday.

Texas at home is 1-10 in the divisional round, unbelievable, what a fraud #1 seed they turned out to be.

The Red Sox burping and farting their way into the playoffs is going to spell their doom as the Indians are much better at home than on the road.

Unless Price comes up big today, they are toast after Porcello peed down his leg last night, serving up meatball after meatball to the Indians.

Everything was up, up, up in the zone, doom for a sinker ball pitcher.

Oh and thanks MFY's for trading Miller to the tribe, he's basically unhittable at this point in his career.

Imagine a Cubs/Jays World Series...................no thanks.....................

Probably one of the best lines in a post ever, instant classic.

Price getting lit up, gives up a three run bomb to first ballot hall of famer Lonnie #$%^ing Chisenhall, his first home run off a lefty all year long, his 8th of the season.

Last night, some tomato can catcher named Perez had the game of his life, tonight it's the immortal Lonnie #$$^ing Chisenhall.

Red Sox bats are dead.

Adios 2016 post season..................

Well, what a surprise in the Boston game and the Nationals game. Price continues his baffling inability to win in the post-season (0-7, lifetime as a starter), as he currently trails 4-0 after 3 and in DC, Gopher Ball Scherzer has struck again as he trails 1-0 in the 1st after giving up his 32nd Hr of the season. Jeesh. -- Al

Al,
The Red Sox are an extremely young team, gone are the veterans from their 2004, 2007 and 2013 runs, they are a bunch of kids who are going to learn from this and get better, the future looks bright in Boston.

They desperately need a front of the rotation pitcher, a horse who can take the ball every fifth day and you can pencil in a W. They also need help with the back end of the bullpen; make a few deals and some free agent pitching signings and go from there next year.

They are loaded with young talent, more on the way in the minors.....................it's all good, just happy to be out of the cellar this year.

Toronto looks to be on a mission and the whole world is penciling in the Cubs for the WS, so we'll see.............

I was just expressing my displeasure with Price. I don't get how the guy can win so many games year after year, yet go belly-up every time he's in the post-season. Just puzzling. The Red Sox aren't finished yet. The way they just took the division title from everyone proves they are a dangerous team. It ain't over by a long shot. -- Al

Scherzer and his gopher balls.:rolleyes2: He has given up another and now trails 4-2 in the 3rd. Nats starting to awaken. -- Al

Al:

Hang in there, Kershaw is not a great post-season pitcher, he is 2-6 lifetime with a 4.59 era. In other words he is no Bumgarner. ^&grin

Jason, Nats currently trail 4-3 in the 6th, but Kershaw is at 101 pitches after his 5 innings of work. Nats may be into the LA bullpen by the 7th, if not before. -- Al
p.s. -- Kershaw out after 5.

Getting into the LA bullpen did us no good at all, 1 hit in 4 innings. We'll have to do better in Game #2 or going to LA down 2-0 will be bad news. -- Al

Farrell is getting roasted here in Boston over the Red Sox performance so far in this series, down 0-2 to the Indians, managed by Francona, the former Red Sox manager, everyone is moaning about how they never should have shown Francona the door.

Unbelievable.

People around here forget the Red Sox were down 0-3 to the MFY's in the 2004 ALCS and staged the greatest comeback in baseball history, then down 3-1 to the Tribe in the 2007 ALCS before staging another comeback; two miracle comebacks which led to WS wins.

They also lost the 2008 ALCS to the upstart Rays, plus the epic meltdown in the 2011 season where they missed the playoffs by basically wetting the bed the last two weeks of the season, both on Francona's watch.

Farrell as a first year manager in 2013 won a WS with a far less talented squad than the Tigers or the Cardinals, both of whom they beat on the way to the WS win.

The Indians are WAY too comfortable at the plate, someone needs to get knocked on his ***, they are sitting on fastballs and hanging out over the plate. Some chin music would be nice at this point as it's win or go home time.

Time to sack up and make this a series, not whine about how we no longer have Francona as the manager.....................

Blast. A long day of baseball and no luck on any front. All 4 of the teams I am interested in have lost. Hope the Nats and Giants might break into the win column in Game 2 tomorrow. -- Al

Lester pitched his rear end off, got out of a few jams, but won the game 1-0.

The Red Sox low balled him and lost, then overpaid for Price.

Lester clearly has "it", while Price just does not have "it" when it comes to the post season.

If things continue on as they have, by the weekend, we won't have a single forum member with a team still alive.

That stinks, but that's baseball.

Oh wait, Doug is a Dodgers fan, so there you go.

Still a shot then.
