Yeah, just ask the '69 Mets. :rolleyes2: Chris

I think you mean the 86 Mets. The 69 Mets were 1-1 when they went home after the series opened in Baltimore.

The 86 team did it the hard way: they lost the first two games at home but rebounded to take two of the three games in Boston.

Game 1 to Cleveland with dominating pitching from starter and bullpen. The Cubs need to get a good game out of Arrieta tonight because going down 2 games to none would be bad. That's right, I said it...bad. So will be good Jake or so-so Jake tonight? Play ball. -- Al
The answer...the good Jake showed up and we now have a tied series. He threw 5 innings of no-hit ball while the Cubs built a 5-0 lead and it was all over but the crying. On to Chik-a-go and Kyle Hendricks...advantage Cubs. -- Al

Last night a TV network that will go unmentioned was already planning the Indians' victory parade, tonight they are going over Chicago's parade route.

I think this one will go 7 games.

Right, the 86 Mets, that lovable bunch.............game 7 of the 86 WS is on ESPN classic tonight in case anyone wants to watch it, I'd do so, but then I'd have to jam pencils into my eyes afterward...................

Seen that too many times.

Don't do that; you'll get in an accident on the way down. Hopefully Christie doesn't close the GW Bridge.

I sure am enjoying this WS, even though I don't have a real favorite, favoring Cleveland only slightly. Great pitching tonight in what was baseball at it's best. Cleveland's bullpen has been unreal. Looks like 7 is a real possibility. -- Al

The Indians are looking very strong; two shutouts in three games is quite impressive. I wonder if Francona is revolutionizing how you use closers. You can probably only do that if you have two strong pitchers.

Did Maddon the Wyle E Coyote Super Genius manager use Schwarber last night? All I heard on ESPN and our local sports is this guy is the second coming of Babe Ruth, out all year then got a couple of hits the other night, the way they talk about him, I just assumed he'd go 4 for 4 last night with 4 grand slams.......................:rolleyes2:

When he was managing the RS to the World Series, he was doing the same stuff with his staff and bullpen. Seemed unconventional at that time, but totally frustrated N.Y. Michael

I won't be a bit surprised if Francona outmanages Maddon and Cleveland wins this WS. Cubs have the advantage in player talent and starting pitching but things haven't quite gone the way many expected. Francona now owns a 10-1 record in the WS and that ability would seem to be the edge Cleveland needs to make a real fight of this series. It just seems that everything Francona does works out and that is a hard mystique to beat. Just ask the opponents of the Bochy led Giants in 2010, 12, and 14. -- Al

He's not medically cleared to play the OF, plus he's brutal out there, so he only got AB.

You can look like a genius when you get great SP and can bring in Miller in the middle innings.

Well unless the Cubs can get some of that Sister Sledge (We are family) luck and find some of that magical water that the Pirates used on the O's in '79 to win it after being down 3-1 the Cubbies might be looking at year 109 and counting, never saw this coming losing 2 strait at Wrigley:confused::confused:

I guess the next thing we here out of Chicago will be bout the "Kluber Kurse" and how the Cubs are, once again, just plain unlucky. -- Al

Announced during the game, Britton is AL reliever of the yr. Shame he wasn't good enough to pitch in the wild card game. :rolleyes2: Chris

Game 5 another well-pitched, hard fought contest with the Cubs surviving 3-2 and getting to return to Cleveland with their dream still alive. This series continues to be a good one. -- Al

I guess the Cubs can fly the "W" tonight. Good to see that the home fans got to see a win. I was reading up on significance of the "W" and in the days before mass communication, it was used to signal to people whether the Cubs had won or lost.
