Baseball 2016 (1 Viewer)

I'm in..I watched the long overdue Red Sox title win in my life time so hoping to see the Cubbies win it all and kill the 108 year run, out of all the "Cubs haven't won stories since yada, yada" my favorite has been the Titanic hadn't even been built yet!!!...Sammy
Sammy, it's only fair that one of these two teams gets to end it's curse. Since the turn of the century, we have seen 2 other long suffering franchises (the White and Red Sox) get their titles after long droughts. It should actually be fun to watch. -- Al

It's probably difficult for us to imagine what Cubs fans are feeling right now. They haven't won a pennant in 71 years.

I think that it will be a good series with two of the best teams playing at the top of their games right now. The Cubs' clutch hitting versus the Indians' relievers will be a great sub-plot.

The Cubs were the better team but I'm already tired of the wild overhype about the Cubs' long WS drought etc. I'm pulling for Cleveland for that reason but will likely will not watch a single pitch in this series.

Growing up on the southside of Chicago I am fan a White Sox, normally, I do not care if the Cubs win or lose. However, I am rooting against the Cubs. This city will be insufferable if the Cubs win. The Cub fans are a pain and I hate seeing that stupid W flag the fans fly every time the Cubs win. So let's go Indians.

I'll be pulling for Cleveland just because my son lives there and likes them. I, too, am tired of hearing about all the Cubs misfortune and drought. One must remember that the Cubs are completely responsible for their own problems and not some goat or unfortunate fan catching a fly ball. -- Al

I'm sure hearing about 1908 will be tiresome to some but many of you who complain about it have had a WS champion in your lifetime. A Cubs fan, at least one who was born since 1920, never, so let's be a little tolerant, although I do understand why Brian would not be rooting for them.

Regardless of how we feel, the Cubs should win. They are just the overall better team.

I am also a south side White Sox and Tiger fan but I will root for the Cubs in the series. (Gulp) John

Schwarber may on the WS roster. His knee is healthy and he's been down in the Arizona Fall League working on getting ready. Frankly, I don't think he will be ready but we'll find out soon enough.

It's the ersatz Cubs fans that bug me. I saw people in PA walking around in Cubs' hats today. Some inherent desire to pull for the "underdog" even if they are the best team in baseball even among people who have no association to the team or city and could otherwise care less. Get a life as William Shatner said to the Star Trek nerds! LOL. I hope Cleveland destroys them for that reason but then the storyline will be about how the poor Cubs are cursed and we should feel sorry for them. There is no winning.

Standing room tickets at Wrigley are reported to be in the $2,000 range. Some people are asking $50,000 for box seats.

I guess it is all relative, besides who knows if it will be another 108 years before they go back to the World Series?

Game 1 to Cleveland with dominating pitching from starter and bullpen. The Cubs need to get a good game out of Arrieta tonight because going down 2 games to none would be bad. That's right, I said it...bad. So will be good Jake or so-so Jake tonight? Play ball. -- Al

Regardless how this plays out, the Cubs are loaded with talent, they'll be back a few times going forward.

Just getting there after a 71 year drought gets a gigantic monkey off of their backs.

The whole "Just happy to be there" mantra........................that said; I'm sure someone said the same thing about the 1945 team............"They'll be back"...............or not.

Putting all of your eggs on Arrieta, considering his recent record, is a risky proposition. Being down 2-0 is not enviable, but not fatal.

I think a lot of teams assume they'll be back but for the most part it never seems to work out that way.
