best rock band from the U.K. (1 Viewer)

Gentlemen,

Of course I would be delighted to buy you all a drink, with 2 caveats.

Firstly, you actually need to make it to the show to facilitate the liquid transaction, and

Secondly, it will be neccessary for me to prise Rob's card out of Clives steel like grip, in order for me to fund this novel and entertaining idea.

Like I said Always Promised-Never Delivered-now proven

S'Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. If Rob's card stays with Clive, I'll also get my Sherman Flail out of it. ;)

Some meathead wrote "Flirtin with disaster" on my kevlar cover back in my Currahee days. :D- it was after a rough day at the rifle range.

I am thrilled to death no one mentioned Oasis yet!! Can't stand them and think they are wildly overrated.

I am a fan of alternative/ college rock as well- Love Nirvana to death, Pearl Jam as well, Dinosaur Jr, Radiohead (UK super band).

Simon, good to 'see' you. How so? What is the secret of getting Clive to put it on Rob's tab - more G&T anyone?

Chris, my (adult) kids were into this lot and I have to say I like some of their gear, Oasis did write some terrific anthems.

I also like Nirvana but teen spirit is really the only one that sticks out that I know of.

Modern guys, the lead singer in the band that does 'rock star' is fantastic - is it Nickelback? Not very British but hey.......

Can't thank you guys enough for these dudes............ :D:D:D

Hey! Some of their pre-Saturday Night Fever/disco-crap wasn't all that bad!
I agree. I actually liked the pre-disco stuff, too. Haven't cared for them since disco, though. -- lancer

Tom

Thanks for that- I can just beat Kevin on the list-must be the Reb in me- Marshall Tucker Band is with LS my all time favorite.

Tony Caldwell's vocals on "Can't You See" even today sends tingles down one's spine-Sadly I believed he died sometime in the 90's?

Here's a story for you that track "Can't You See" was used as the music for a British TV advertisement for Nestle Double Cream Chocolate Bar a couple of years back-and hell! because of that darn music I actually bought a bar-Nothing wrong with that except I don't like chocolate-never have-the power of music especially the music of that band :D

Cant You See.........oh wow, what a song, I can hear it ringing in my ears right now. Everytime I hear any of these groups, it reminds me of my summer days as a teenager, I grew up in an area of Maryland that can pass for Mississippi, Alabama, pretty much any Southern Farmland. Had a Wye Oak in the backyard, a bass lake in the neighborhood and a river to fish within 15min. Now that's living. Today I live in Suburbia hellishness.

But everytime I hear Lynyrd, I think of the days fishing, having a beer, smoking cigs or cigars and generally NO STRESS life!!!!!!!!!!
