Blaster Collection (1 Viewer)

that's all the completed musician pics that I could gather. I still have a few more musicians in the works.
I hope that these pics give you all some enjoyment as well.

Hello Joe,

thanks for your input. Maybe I'm in the wrong hobby. I should take up gardening or dried flower arrangement :):):)

Victor,
Thank you for sharing your amazing collection! I love how you display all of your magnificent treasures!

Hi All,

I had these early academic nudes for a loong time lurking in the dark recesses. I finally decided to base them for display.
These are Globe Miniatures and they also produced medieval clothed figures.
I'll leave these as bare metal.

Hi All,

Just doing a little cleaning and sorting out the collection. So far, I've grouped my pieces from around the time of Louis XV to the end of the Century in this section.

I am also placing the flats in a more prominent display situation.

Victor, Your collection and display space looks fantastic! I really envy your presentation array and all of the one of a kind models.

A great collection deserves a great display! Good Work!
Dad & I have figures jammed shoulder-to-shoulder on some shelves (watch out for powder burns, little guys!) but Mom only really likes the displays with some staging or other atmosphere. True, she herself never decorates for show, but what is showable is usually what is aesthetic. A collection should always be a bonus in a home.
Anyway, summary: Very nice collection in a very nice setting.

P.S. Close-ups are funs too...

Hi Paddy and Joe,

Thanks for looking! I'm now rearranging the displays, trying to extend more display spaces in between the periods.

Generally, I like to do my displays in chronological order. But my ethnic and oriental figues don't fit in clearly with World history strictly. So these two themes are displayed independently.

I try to substitute glass shelves where possible to allow the top light to shine through the displays. It is largely the weight of the pieces that forces me to place them on solid wood shelves instead of the glass shelves. I also like to mix the displays up a little, toy soldiers with model miniatures and flats, painted an unpainted to give it some implied dynamism.

This is the 21st century section. I may eventually shift the Franco Prussian war display from the previous cabinet to the top of this cabinet.

Some description of the evolving display.

The top shelf has a set of Starlux firefighters in dark blue in the background. The frame contains a painted flat Zulu War from Glorious Empire. In front are unpainted W Britains hollow-cast mounted Scots Grey. The large ballerina was bought from the Centre Pompidou, Paris. This will be revised shortly as I will be adding the 2nd Empire figures here.

The second shelf has Starlux French Air Force figures in the background. There are also Frontline figures of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps Band, Hungarian Band and colour party. Some modern toy soldier makes including Tradition. Three W Britains Gurkhas, two original hollow-cast and one solid cast. Airfix vintage cars and some Scalelink ordinance.

The main display is mainly WWI and interwar period with many trenchbags. Some Scalelink artillery.

The lower shelf is WWII to cold war period. There is a a Morser 1/72 in the background, On top is the 1/35 Italian mini submarine.

I'm still sorting out the lowest shelf which will house my heavy state Coach procession due to the weight.

I am trying to make space for the earlier Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance periods.

This is the reworked display for the ancient and ethnic displays. I reasoned that most of my ethnic pieces are based on Papua New Guinean tribes and these have been recorded a few thousand years back. I had to mix and match as the heights between the shelves did not allow for the taller pieces to be placed.

The display now includes additional flat sets fully or partially painted but not yet placed into frames.

Top shelf includes a large and rare Hannibal Crossing the Rhone set. The main shelf has many pieces placed within a curios display base.

Hi Joe,

thanks for your kind comments and for looking.

Here's the reworked medieval section. I took out some Segom and Wilken flats to display in the background for the upper shelf. Lower shelf has Mauro Benni flats.

The second pic shows the reworked oriental/artistic display. Here, I place various odds and ends together. This display will probably continue to evolve.

That second pix has a few unusual items that need elucidation....

In the bkgd is a large Balinese barong spirit puppet. These are used in shadow puppet performances in Bali. The puppets are made from buffalo leather, incised and painted with colours n gilt.

In the centre is a large Japanese resin cast nude posed next to a pottery monkey, both doing morning stretching exercises.

In in the lower right corner stands an action man doll modified to represent a child with Down’s syndrome. I had wanted to build a prototype to make a pitch to a charity to produce these as dolls to raise awareness etc. Far too many projects in my cupboard including the Airfix skeleton.....
