The brown house is one of only a handful still standing , after the bombing in WW11.

Hello Mark,

Thank you very much for so promptly providing the photographs of the site of Lt. Chard's home in Plymouth.

The brown house looks to be in a pretty good condition and must have been rebuilt and restored after the Blitz.

A few additional lines on Mr. Chard. He served as a Lt. Colonel in Singapore from 1892 to 1896.

Lt. Col Chard returned to England in 1897 and died shortly after at the age of 49 years old.

He survived the overwhelming Zulu hordes at Rorke's Drift, but succumbed to cancer of the tongue.

Your photographs are very much appreciated and once again thanks so very much.

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Hi Mark,

The Doris Gun at Devonport Park is a captured "Pom Pom" gun from the Boer War.

The "Pom Pom" gun was designed by Hiram Maxim and was an upgraded version of the Maxim machine gun.

The version used by the Boers was the 37mm calibre cannon made by Maxim-Nordenfelt.

Therefore, the gun in Devonport Park should be the Maxim-Nordenfelt 37mm calibre cannon.

Perhaps, the local town council may be able to confirm this.

Thanks very much for the Doris Gun Memorial photographs.

Great Job.

Cheers, Raymond.:)

Hello Mark. The base is one of four that I had Ken Osen custom make for me. Each one is 22 inches square and can be used independently by themselves or they can all be interlocked creating a 44" square diorama. I am glad you like them - you can imagine how much pleasure I get out of them . . . . . . Mike

Very nice Mike, now you are a civil war guy expert.. I hope you will not give up on the Crusaders...

Not giving up on the Crusaders Rod, I'll just be more concentrated on collecting WB Civil War sets . . . . . . . . . Mike
