Britains Durbar Question (1 Viewer)

Dave keep the photos coming their a pleasure to look at and what a labor of love.....Joe

do you have pictures of the #08848 and #08856 sets ?

K-V,

I do not have photographs of my sets, but a search of eBay items may result in you finding some pictures of sets in auction. However, I think you have a typo in your posting. You indicated you wanted to see set #08856. I believe the correct set number is #08956.

Happy hunting!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi K-V and Dave,

The Ceremonial Guards, set #08957, which I mentioned in my earlier question are the 4 fellows carrying the long lances that flank Dave's elephant. They make really nice companion pieces.

I just thought I would throw that last bit information in for the heck of it! :D

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I've seen those guards on ebay. Thanks for the pic Dave. Hi Pat how is the snow?

Hi Vamp,

How is the snow? Let me just say that everyone in this area is really looking forward to Spring! According the the weather forcasters, we are supposed to experience a warming trend in the next few days, so, hopefully, the snow will begin to melt.

No one has ever asked me, but, just in case you were wondering, I much prefer mowing grass over shoveling snow! :D

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Pat, aren't you afraid that if it warms up you'll have to mow the lawn ?
How many elephants were in the Durbar?

Hi Vamp,

No, I am not afraid to mow the lawn if the weather warms. I would much rather do the mowing than do the shoveling! :D

You asked how many elephants were in the Durbar. First of all, I am assuming you mean the 1903 Durbar. I have read the figure somewhere, but I cannot remember where. As I recall, the total number of elephants in that Durbar was 56, but I cannot be completely certain that my memory is accurate. I think Dave knows the specific number. We should ask him.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

OK , new question. How many elephants has Britains made for the Durbar?

Hi Vamp,

Since 1997, W. Britain has produced a total of four Delhi Durbar elephants. They are:

Set #08848 - The Delhi Durbar, Imperial Elephant Durbar Procession (1997)
Set #08956 - Duke and Duchess of Connaught on State Elephant (1998)
Set #40184 - The Maharajah of Bikahir's State Elephant (2001)
Set #40186 - The State Elephant of the Nizam of Hyderabad (2001)

I hope this information answers your question. Are you considering expanding your Durbar collection? It would be fun to see you do so. :)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Sure am. There are some Britains stuff around. I will be picking them up occaisionally. Wish I could afford the BJ stuff

Hi Vamp,

I am pleased you are joining those of us who have an interest in the Durbar figures. I know what you mean about wishing you could collect the Beau Geste sets. Some of the sets are pricey but they are really nice. In fact, I find them down right addictive!

I assume you have also looked at the William Hocker Durbar sets as well. Wouldn't it be nice to afford it all! :)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat all I have to do is win the lottery. Unfortunately I haven't bought a ticket.
Or plan B get a rich girlfriend:p

Hocker is reasonable I am just cheap. Maybe he will be at W.C.

Hi Guys,

been away for a few days sorry I didnt drop in sooner. Pats numbers are correct for the 1903 Durbar Elephants. 56 were ridden into the Amphitheater however there were also a lot of others used for towing wagons etc. I will see if I can come up with some numbers but it will be a few days. I have a few more days with my wife home on leave so I will be off line for a while. I will post some pictures for you guys in a few days also.

All the best

Dave

Thanks for the info Dave. Glad to hear the wife is on leave at home. Hope she is not in "Harms Way" when on duty.

Hi Guys,

I had a very wonderful leave with my wife and most of her family. It was really good to see her and have her home for a few days safe and sound but I did miss the Durbar since we were away and so I decided to keep my mind off of her leaving to go back to Iraq and take a picture of my Delhi Durbar Elephant Set number 8848 so here it is.

KV and Pat I should be able to fix the software issue for the Durbar Cataloge and send you an Adobe PDF tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed! It will be very good to get your feedback on this project.

All the best

Dave

Your elephant is beautiful! As you know, this is the one I need. Sometimes I get sooooooo envious of your worderful Durbar collection!

I will certainly look forward to receiving your Durbar catalog! I hope the software issue is resolved!
