Lot of dreams went up in smoke in today's games. Florida, Rutgers, USC, OKU, and several other ranked teams all took a loss. The polls will be a brave new world tomorrow. -- Al

Yep, they sure did, hoping ND can run the table as a ND/Alabama game for all the marbles would be epic.

That said, if either of them stumble, we're looking at Oregon/Kansas State; wow, what excitement that match up will bring.

The playoff system can't come fast enough.

Ends up being quite a remarkable day. I can't remember the last time so many of the Top 25 teams lost. 10 of them went down, including an amazing 4 of the Top 10. Lots of tears today, and a few new teams should be making a Top 25 appearence. I was really surprised that USC, and Florida lost. Florida couldn't get out of their own way and USC left their defense in the locker room. On the up side, Navy won big. ^&cool -- Al

UMd Terps lost their second tough game in a row, again in the last minute. Were in position to win but a last minute Td by BC beat them. Still, the Terps did OK for a team with it's 4th string, and last Qb, running the game. -- Al
Well, scratch the 4th string Qb, another torn ACL, another Qb (#4) lost for the season. Reports say a linebacker will be converted to run the UMd offense. Things just keep getting worse for the Terps. How do you lose 4 Qb's in one season? :( -- Al

Sounds good, I'll take a Alabama/ND Championship game any day. I know its a long way off and a lot can happen between here and there but I am really looking forward to this years ND/USC game.

The picks have not been kind recently. But it's a new week with some good games.

Miss. St. 24 Texas A&M 20

USC 41 Oregon 37 - the Trojans at home coming off a disappointing loss will give the Ducks a game and maybe more.

Bama 38 LSU 10 - I just don't think LSU can score points against anyone much less the best D in the country.

Kansas St. 43 Oklahoma St. 24 - KSU is riding high. Bill Snyder is the Mr. Rogers of college football. Too nice to pull against him.

Oregon and USC are having a terrific shootout with Oregon leading 55--38 in the 4th. Another fine defensive match-up.:rolleyes2: Another split for the local teams with Navy winning and the Terps losing, again. Not so surprising when one considers the Terps were using a converted linebacker as a Qb. -- Al

Bama got lucky after being outplayed the whole second half but every team needs a little luck now and then. USC needs a defense. Perhaps they, along with UWVa., can go find one together. Would love to see Oregon and Bama go at each other. -- Al

Some interesting games this weekend. A number of top five teams are on the road against decent teams.

Stanford 27 Oregon St. 20 - this should be a good one. Oregon St. is playing well. If they were home, I would pick them.

Alabama 30 Texas A&M 17 - might be close until the half then the Tide rolls.

TCU 34 Kansas St. 31 - on the road with all the pressure on #2 KSU I think this is a trap game and upset.

Oregon 31 Cal 20 - another trap game. The Ducks on the road against a Cal team that plays them tough. Every team that has beat USC has lost the following game. But the Ducks may simply have too much talent on offense.

Notre Dame has a risky game with Boston College. The Irish have played well but also caught some breaks from the refs. BC will give them a game.

All the action is out west this week. The SEC is playing an embarrassing slate of cupcake games and not many top 20 matchups outside of the PAC 12.

USC 41 UCLA 27 - this game finally means something beyond a rivalry game. Both teams are ranked and the winner goes to the PAC championship game. Kiffin is likely gone after this season if SC loses this one and ND coming in next week.

Oregon 44 Stanford 30 - BCS and PAC championship games at stake. I was shocked at how awful the Oregon defense was against USC. Stanford might be able to slow the Ducks offense down with its physical D, but it can't stop them and I don't think Stanford can score enough points to win.

WVA 59 Oklahoma 40 - have to go with one upset pick among the lame games. WVA has an awful defense. At home and having been humiliated several times, though, they may be due.

Florida St. 38 Maryland 10 - Sorry to our Terps fans here, but no explanation needed:wink2:.

No need to apologize to we Terp fans. We know all too well what kind of problems UMd is having. 38-10 may be generous. The Terps injury problems at Qb have been unworldly as they are now using a converted linebacker after the first 4 Qb's were all knocked out for the season. {eek3} -- Al

Terps lose 41-14, not unexpected. What is unexpected are the rumors going around that UMd is going to pull out of the ACC to join the Big 10. According to ESPN, talks have been ongoing for a while now. Rutgers is also going to the Big 10. UMd is a charter member of the ACC and I can't understand what the motivation to bail on the ACC could be. Obviously it is about money but how can the Big 10 bring UMd more bucks than the ACC? Moreover, UMd has money problems as it is, having cut several athletic programs already, and the ACC exit fee is $50 million. Have they lost their minds at College Park? Jeesh! -- Al

Another hillbilly trackmeet in WVa as the Mountaineers now trail OkU 31-17 with about 2 minutes left in the first half. Looks like the WVa defense's points yielded average of 41.5 ppg is going to go up again. Uh-oh. OkU just intercepted and is driving again... -- Al

lol, gotta love it. I don't know what you are refering to exactly but I'm sure USC has got away with a few calls this year. I'm just glad Kiffin didn't have anything to do with those footballs being under inflated:rolleyes: Oh well, whats your prediction going into the ND/USC matchup. Since its in Cal and it is a rivalry game I'm gonna call it pretty close. ND 24 USC 17

Baylor is whooping up on K State and Stanford is making a game of it (even though they just fumbled it away) so Irish could be number 1.

3 great games going right now, with #1 and #2 in real dogfights. Brad has it nailed. Irish could be #1 going into USC next week and Bama would be right back in the championship mix if that all goes down. -- Al

Kansas State is toast. Baylor up 52-24 with 1 quarter to go. WVa and OkU playing pin-ball with WVa leading 49-44 with just under 3 minutes to go. I can't keep track of all these points. Tavon Austin of WVa has 344 yards rushing and another 208yards receiving and returning! Unreal. OkU now leads 50-49 with 24 seconds left. Plenty of time for Austin and WVa.
I was wrong. OkU wins 50-49. -- Al

It actually would have been better for ND for Oregon to win. Alabama now goes to number 2 and play Irish for title (assuming they beat USC). I can't see ND winning against Alabama.

Congratulations Irish. All is right with the football world for the first time in a long time.^&grin -- Al

What a night.

#1, toast.

#2, toast.

ND/Bama for all the marbles.

Wow.
