I can't believe anyone could hold Oregon to only 14 points at home. And Oregon's defense kept them in the game! College football is a bizarre game. Now USC gets an undefeated #1 Notre Dame but maybe without Barkley.
That would have been a great game (possibly) with him, without him it's going to be ugly.
Pat Haden gave Kiffen the dreaded vote of confidence last night, which means he's as good as gone.
That marriage didn't last long and it's time for him to dump his old man as defensive coordinator, that defense couldn't stop a nose bleed.
Don't understand how Alabama lost and only dropped to 4th in the standings, you've got three other 1 win teams that should have jumped over them.
Now if they beat Georgia they go to the title game, not a very fair system.
And you've got an 11-0 Ohio State team that stays home.
Brian Kelly's head might explode like the guy in Scanners if that happens.
Just found out that it has been 19 years since the Irish have been ranked #1. A long drought for them and hard to believe it has been so long. Good lord, where did the years go? -- AlCongratulations Irish. All is right with the football world for the first time in a long time.^&grin -- Al
ESPN reporting that Barkley is definitely out for the game against ND. Only the 3rd game Barkley has ever missed while at USC, (the 2nd against the Irish). Captain Obvious feels this will fatally hurt USC's chances to win. ND still has to play the game though, so it would behoove them to prep like Barkley is playing. -- A
^&grin Hey, some of your picks have been very accurate, especially in terms of point totals. You can't win them all, all the time. :wink2: I enjoy your predictions. Keep it up. ^&grin -- AlThe way Barkley has been playing it might not make a difference. He has been awful. The kid backing him up hasn't played much but has a rocket arm. College football is a crazy sport. ND has all the pressure. No one expects SC to win, but they are at home and started the season #1. It might be interesting. You will have to wait for my pick and then you will know the team I didn't pick is going to win for sure.
Doug,
I think we know your pick ^&grin
If ND doesn't win, we might get a video clip from the Coach like we got from Herm: "you play to win the game!"

This is tragic. It is all about the money. UMd has severe money problems in regards to athletics, having cut 7 of 27 programs. This move is to try to avoid future cuts to more programs. The Big 10 can simply pay UMd more money than the ACC can. -- AlU fo MD and Rutgers move to the Big Ten. Guess the losing streak to Duke in Bball is over. We'll be a basement feeder in football in this conference as well. What are the financial advantages? And it is about the money. MD was a founding member of the ACC in 1953. Chris

Outside of the business aspect, which may make sense, I have not talked to a single UMd alumni over the past few days that does support the move. I guess tradition still plays a part to some people. Oh well. -- AlThat is more or less what Boomer Esiason said on his morning show on WFAN today; he supports the move.
