College football coaches have the loyalty of snakes. I'm sure it's all about the $$$'s. Some deep pockets deep in the heart of Walmart-land.

Crud, gotta wait two and ahalf weeks for my favorite game of the year, Army-Navy. Records never mean anything when these two get together but I always root for Navy and trust that they will win again this year. -- Al
Game Day! Go Navy! Game time 3pm EST but the countdown has begun. Going for 11 in a row against the ground-pounders. The game may not be the Super Bowl but it means a lot to a lot of people and it is my favorite tradition in sports. Go Middies! ^&grin -- Al

Some time still to go but Army has totally outplayed Navy today. Army has just run all over Navy, (as befits the ground-pounders), and kept the ball away from them as a result. Even when Navy has had the ball, Army has stymied them. Navy has not been able to do much of anything on offense. Navy may still win this game, but Army deserves it. Salute.{bravo}} -- Al

Heartbreaking loss for Army as they were on the Navy 15 and driving for the winning Td with under 1:30 to play but turned the ball over on a fumble. Navy runs the clock out and wins 17-13. Really hard to watch how the Army team lost the game and the effect it had on Steelman and his teamates. Navy wins but Army was every bit as good today. -- Al

The Bowls got off to a great start with AZ-Nevada. Nevada breaks the record for most first downs in a bowl game and then blows a 13 point lead in the final two minutes. And a couple of AZ players get into a fight on their own sideline. LOL. That's college football. Wild and unpredictable.

I just watched the vaunted USC Trojans LOSE to a 6-7 ACC team, Georgia Tech. My question is how did USC ever manage to win 7 games and spend time ranked this season? They looked terrible. No offense meant to the USC fans/alumni on the forum, but that team just didn't look like they wanted to be there. {sm2} -- Al

They were awful. An arrogant group of overrated numbskulls. Hopefully it means the end of Kiffin. The downside for ND fans is that SC looked much worse against GA Tech than they did against the #1 Irish. Losing Barkley hurt them big time. I think they would have beat ND with Barkley, but that's water under the bridge.

Time to pick the big ones:

Rose: Stanford 24 Wisconsin 13. I'm finally sold on Stanford. They are tough and well coached. Playing a Wisconsin team that shouldn't even be in this game.

Orange: Florida St. 37 N.Illinois 10. A cure for insomnia.

Sugar: Florida 40 Louisville 17. The SEC extends it's schedule of cupcake games to the BCS.

Fiesta: Oregon 44 Kansas St. 41. Maybe the best of the bowl games. They should light up the scoreboard which means it will probably be a 10-7 game.

BCS: Alabama 30 ND 17. Bama has no real weaknesses except maybe at QB. ND caught a ton of breaks. With a freshman QB it may get ugly. But even a blowout in this game is a moral victory for the Irish who have returned from nearly two decades of mediocrity.

aaaaaaah....this is what I have been waiting for...just kidding Doug...

anybody catch that Clemson come-back on LSU...what a nail biter...great game...

I do like Stanford -5...

I love Florida -14...

I'll take Kansas St +8 1/2...

that's a lot of points to give N. Illinois (14 1/2)...they can score...but so can Fl. St....I'll pass on betting that one...but if I had to...I would take N. Illionois...

Notre Dame +10...my favorite pick...no respect...that's a lot of points!!!

I saw it. Another shocker for the ACC. Clemson beats LSU would not have been on my radar. Great comeback and win for Clemson. ACC on a roll, baby!{eek3} --Al

Les Miles has to be one of the luckiest coaches in the history of football. I don't know how many close games that I've seen his teams pull out. Many on sheer luck. So it does me good to see one slip away from him. I have all due respect for the SEC, but when they consistently play a non-conference schedule of Div. II cupcakes it's infuriating. Florida hasn't played a regular season game against a top ten team outisde the state of Florida since WWII!

Wow are these bowl games exciting, the Poulan Weedwacker Bowl, the Tidybowl Toilet Bowl, the Icouldgivearatsbehind Speedy Muffler Bowl, talk about a cure for insomnia 99% of these "bowl games" are.

It used to be somewhat exciting to be able to sit down on New Years Day and watch the Cotton, Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowls all on the same day instead of spreading them out until March like they do now.

They desperately need a playoff format to incorporate into these bowl games, imagine the excitement if games other than the BCS Championship game actually meant something.

The NCAA is a farce, always has been, always will be..........................

Stanford and Wisconsin played old school football today. Not pretty but great to see two teams going at it like a couple of heavyweight fighters. Florida St. is really struggling to pull away. They remind me of USC. Lots of NFL-hyped talent, but not disciplined or well coached enough to use it. They are letting NI hang around which is dangerous.

One phrase I will not hear again...

Northwestern has not won a bowl game since 1949.

Finally! The gorilla is off our backs. Whew!

How many other teams can say they beat two bowl-eligible SEC teams this year??

When does the Minuteman Bowl come on? I've been waiting for that one all day ^&grin

Comes on right after the blue and grey game (remember that one); it's a throwback game, all the players are wearing tricorn hats instead of helmets.......

It must be after the Chick Fil A Bowl! No idea what that is {eek3}

That one is sponsored by the Chick Fil A chain of restaurants, each attendee gets a free chicken sandwich.

Notice how all of these bowl games now have a sponsor; more money for the NCAA, like they don't make enough already............
