TCU got screwed, they won, yet went from 3rd to 6th? Are you kidding me?

Ohio State is in, they are out, that's lousy for sure.

And Doug is right, they will go to 8 teams for sure. And again, imagine the mess were there not a playoff, either FSU or Oregon would be out, my guess would be Oregon, you can't keep an undefeated team out.

This playoff is going to be great.............

George:

I am not a TCU fan, but I agree, they deserved it.

I think the NCAA simply wanted Bama to play Ohio State as opposed to TCU.

I hope the bag of money the Ohio State boosters dropped off was mostly small bills as it's tough to launder the larger ones..................

I thought Baylor should have got the last spot since they beat TCU head-to-head. Ohio St. curb stomped the hapless Badgers, but the Big Ten (or whatever it is called now) is very weak. Penn St. and Michigan were awful. So it is not really a power confernence. Make the cut off eight teams, though, and there would be a debate about the ninth team. Pretty soon they will have a wild card game to decide the final teams and a full playoff bracket like the NCAA basketball circus. The championship team will play an NFL-like schedule that ends in February and any facade of this sport being an amateur game will be gone. Too much money on the table. It has ruined professional sports by adding as many teams and games to the playoffs as they can manage. College football is next.

You answered the question of why OSU, plus Urban Meyer, and ratings.

The 116th game in the Army-Navy series is today. It is my favorite game of any NCAA football year. Navy is going for it's 13th consecutive win in the series, which would extend the Navy record for the longest winning streak in the series. Formally, the record was 5 games. A Navy win today would also make Navy Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo the winningest coach in Navy football history. He is currently tied with George Welsh at 55 victories. The game is also worth watching to see Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who has a NCAA record 61 rushing Td's to go with his 22 passing Td's, and he is only a Junior. So, GO NAVY! Beat Army! -- Al

Navy pulls out a victory in a hard fought, pretty even game, at 17-10. That's 13 wins in a row and Navy now leads the all-time series at 60-49-7. It was a terrific game, worthy of the two old rivals. Navy has now won 16 of the last 18 games, having only lost once this century. I started watching this series in 1962, with my dad, and it had been a very even series up until this current Navy winning streak. Of the 40 games I saw through 2001, the record had been 19-19-2. This current streak has left Army in the dust, so to speak. Anchors aweigh! -- Al

Always a great event. It's probably the last remnant of amateur sports left in big time college football.

Navy ended it's season last night with a win over San Diego State, 17-16, in the Poinsettia Bowl. It was an ugly game. There were 8 turnovers in the game (4 by each) and 5 of them were in the 4th quarter. SDS basically shut down Navy's running game, making the game a slugging match. Navy was lucky to win because SDS had a chip shot FG to win with 20 seconds left, but the kicker shanked it (after hitting 3 FG's earlier), so Navy ends the season 8-5. Congrats on a successful season, Navy. :smile2: -- Al

Ugly win or not ... a win is a win so we will take it. Thanks Lancer!
In reality the only game that matters (to many NAVY supporters) is ARMY <=> Navy......... 13 straight wins for NAVY. {sm4}

Al:

I am just curious (and clearly a little ignorant) but why doesn't the Air Force Academy play a role in any type of rivalry with Army and/or Navy?

Hi Jason,
The Air Force Academy is technically part of the inter-service rivalry in football because of the Commander's Cup. They all play each other but the length of the Army-Navy rivalry puts AF in the shade. AF are the 'new' boys on the block and probably always will be in terms of the rivalry Army-Navy have. No way to make up all the years and history. I would guess that if AF went on some kind of run and won the Commander's Cup year after year they might steal some of the rivalry thunder, maybe. I really don't see Army or Navy being replaced by the fly-boys, though. :wink2: -- Al

Words well spoken Lancer.
In all honesty, The Air Force Academy has fielded very good teams year after year; and in many cases better then both the Navy AND Army teams. But as Lance mentioned the long and rich history of this rivalry (115 years) gives THAT December game an extra meaning. I believe that Navy is going into the ACC for the 2015 season but the Army<=>Navy will still be the one that emotions run high.

Even when we were deployed and hundreds of feet under the surface, ""SOMEHOW" {sm2} :rolleyes: we managed to get a pretty accurate play-by-play description of the game, albeit a bit delayed. When NAVY won that meant extra dessert that night!!!{sm4}

A happy skipper was a happy boat!

Finally getting down to the nitty gritty. The picks:

Oregon 43 Florida St. 24 - Once Team Nike shakes off the rust this should be a blowout. Close until halftime and then the Duck offense tires the Noles out. Jimbo Fisher hasn't seen team speed like this since the last police chase of one of his players.

Alabama 37 Ohio St. 17 - this will be a beatdown. Warden Myers lucked into this game with a down year in the Big 10. Beating Saban even with Lame Kiffin calling plays is a tough nut with a third-string QB starting. Bama dominates.

Based on what I saw today, TCU would have given Alabama a run for their money; they really did get shafted.

Tomorrow is going to be awesome, can't wait, back to back games with a trip to the National Championship game on the line.........

Yup, I will camping out on the couch with the pups all afternoon and night.

Based on the bowl results, the teams from Mississippi should have stayed home, along with my Terps from UMd.:rolleyes2: All 3 got whupped in a manner one wouldn't want witnessed.:( -- Al

Agree, TCU got shafted in a big way. They destroyed a pretty good Ole Miss, even without the turnovers, the game was not close. Alabama needs to play its A game, Ohio State will be ready to play and they have a little luck on their side (just like Notre Dame luck). Florida State will have to really turn up the defense, the talent is there, but they have not been a shutdown team at all this year. If they get off to one of their slow starts, Oregon will literally run away with this game. Lots of talent, but Oregon plays a superfast game.
