College Football - finally (2 Viewers)

I haven't been won over by Michigan yet. They barely beat an average Indiana team and gave up a zillion yards. I think Sparty will be having a fine weekend!

I would just say, ROLL TIDE!!!
My brother, a graduate of 'Bama, would wholdheartedly agree.:D I like 'Bama as well, but sometimes root for the underdog. The Tide looks like repeat champs at this point in the season. -- Al

Being a Penn State fan and Army fan, it has been a mixed year- PSU is just getting outmatched across the board- will be happy if they break .500

Army on the other hand is rockin it- couple hearbreaking losses but this could be the year we

BEAT NAVY

We also get Notre Dame this year- for fans of College Football history, there's a lot in that matchup.

Hi Chris. Opposite side of the fence, here. UMd alum (we "dislike" Penn St. because we always lose:eek:) and a big Navy fan. Highlight of the football season is ALWAYS the Army-Navy game. Have followed Navy since Roger the Dodger led them, and have really enjoyed the last several years.:D That said, it should be a good game this year as Navy is just not firing on all cylinders. Good luck against ND, hope Army takes them. -- Al

Two nephews in the Navy, so I have to go with the swabies. As for Penn State...just hope they never put them back on U of MD schedule...no wins for the Terps in 30 attempts was enough! :(

Speaking of the Terps, an off week so no risk! ;)

Sparty is laying the wood to Michigan. Not unexpected. I fear a Michigan losing streak may be coming...

Shows what I know. Didn't figure SC had a chance against the Tide. SC abused the O line for Bama. 8 sacks! I think the game turned in the 3rd quarter. Bama had scored the safety (nice panic job by the SC Qb) and kicked the FG to close to 21-14, with the momentum. SC then proceded to drive 80+ yards and use over 8 minutes to score a TD and go back up 28-14. Made a comeback really tough. BCS now a mess, as is the SEC West. -- Al

PSU got owned at HOME by Illinois- congrats to them as they have traditionally had a rough time with us. Army won big over Tulane!! Could be the first year in my life where Army has a better record at the end of the season than PSU.

GO ARMY!!:D

That's why they play the game. Bama may or may not have been ready. SC sure was!!!

I thought before the season that SC had the best chance against Bama. The match up was a nightmare for the Tide. I called the Florida game right, a blow out, and called the SC game right, a SC win. Now I call that Bama and SC will see each other in the SEC Champ game. Could be wrong. We will see.

Some tough SEC games left for Bama. Iron Bowl looks to be a good one as things stand now. It has been almost a week since Bama went down so maybe I can take my brother off suicide watch. He has no sense of humor where The Tide is concerned. All in all, the polls are full of c**p. Bama falls to 8 and is still better than all those above, upset or not. -- Al

Because I saw it coming, I was not to upset. However, I hate to see my team play like crap. I do not mind another team beating my team, but don't beat yourself!!

The Iron Bowl will be good. I THINK.

Bama is really playing Newton. Without Newton, Auburn may only have one or two wins under their belt. They have won by the skin of their teeth several times this year. Let the ball bounce the other way and they are a two loss team right now. And SC is unbeaten!!

It's increasingly difficult for college football programs to have long runs of success. Most star players leave after one or two seasons as starters, competition has grown, QBs have to be replaced and there are not many easy games in most conferences. Lesser teams are using the spread offense more and more to attack more talented defenses. If you look at the traditional powerhouses like Michigan, USC, ND, Florida, and Penn St. they are all very average teams this year. Alabama is loaded with talent and got beat. It's going to be an interesting year for the BCS. Teams like Boise St may go undefeated and someone has to decide if they play for the championship over a one loss team like Alabama which plays a much more difficult schedule.

I think it was ESPN who made that observation on Saturday- I think they said it has been 40 years since PSU, USC, ND and FSU all haven't been in the Top 25 in the same year.

Boise St is going to be an interesting one to watch- they could make it easier for everyone and loose a game. :) i say if they go the distance, they get a shot at #1- it's not their fault their schedule is what it is.

I agree that the BCS is going to be an interesting mess. Just don't see how a team like Boise St., with a mickey mouse schedule, can be given a shot over a team like Bama. Bama is playing an absolutely brutal schedule (mostly) and with 1 loss, I don't see how Boise gets the nod. Can you imagine a head to head between the two? No contest. -- Al

Hey Al

you may very well have said the same thing at kickoff on Saturday with the Bama game- it's why they play the game. The system is what it is unfortunately and if they go the stretch, and they aren't the real deal, then they get hammered on national TV for it. Till they go to a playoff format, who can say any of them rightly deserve a shot at it. I actually like the new blood with teams like BsU, Cinncinnati- mixes things up a bit.

Hi Chris. You are right. I DID say the same thing before the upset.:D -- Al

Number 1 goes down the tubes again and things become curiouser and curiouser. Oregon now #1? Well, what can you say? My Terps reverted to form and got slaughtered by Clemson. What a shock. Anyone else watch that incredible game between Auburn and Arkansas? What a shootout. Defense was left on the bus. I'll bet Auburn will not put those kind of points up against the Bama defense. Anyway, congrats to Wisconsin, a great win. And congrats to Navy, which once again played just well enough to win while inflicting more heart attacks on their fans. -- Al

Two more top 5's go down yesterday, hoping the Sooners get into the top 5, still have Missouri to play and Nebraska in the conference championship game, but it's still nice to be where they are at this point.

Stoops has done in incredible job with the program, hope he never leaves................
