College Football - finally (3 Viewers)

Can't say I was disappointed by the Terps, played as expected. Stat line in OSU - Wisc game very close. Didn't look that way during the game. Our UK Cats came from behing to beat Spurrier's Gamecocks! :D And how 'bout those Miss State Bulldogs (wife's school)? Stuffed the Gators without a second half pass attempt! Not a bad football weekend!

Surprised to see Oklahoma jump to #1 in the BCS. A lot of football to be played though and teams like Alabama are still in good shape as some of the undefeated teams play each other. And watch out for USC to knock off Oregon in a couple weeks. Bama and Auburn should be a huge game. But the BCS should also factor a game like Bama and Georgia St. Georgia St. is a first year college football program! That's pathetic even by SEC non-conference standards. A new low.

Al, who's your pick this weekend, BC or UM? Not much offense in BC but think I'll go with them by 6. :(

Call me crazy, but I think UMd can take this one. BC hasn't shown much, 0-3 in the conference, so I lean to the Terps (which, of course, means Fridge will find a way to lose). Also, in other local action, will be pulling for the USNA over ND. -- Al

I agree Al- I think the Terps are in good shape.

My Wildcats take on Sparty this weekend. After our dismal performance against Purdue I expect we'll be ready to go! The 'Cats always play well as underdogs. Sparty had better not take them lightly!

Some tough games to pick this week with a number of undefeated teams playing:

#6 LSU v. #4 Auburn - LSU may be the most overrated team right now. Miles has the luck of the devil, but they get whipped in this one. Auburn by 20.

#1 Oklahoma v. #11 Missouri - this has upset potential. On the road against a ranked team. Sound familiar - maybe the third straight week no 1 goes down. But I doubt it. Oklahoma wins.

#16 Nebraska v. #14 Oklahoma State. Tough game to pick but I think Nebraska rebounds from a tough loss last week.

Washington v. #18 Arizona. Upset pick here taking Washington.

Yes, JoePa was done about five years ago. A great coaching career but someone needs to move him along like Bowden.

BLASPHEMER!! :D:eek:

Everyone keeps saying that yet the man still wins- at this stage in the game, no sense in taking him off the field, he's a force of nature- he deserves the right to walk off the field on his terms- if that is on the back of an ambulance straight to the morgue, so be it, he's more than earned that right.

I loved one of his comments back in 2005 when we were having a rough go:
"If the White House called me and asked me to go to Iraq, then I might leave. Otherwise, quit asking, I am not going anywhere" still have that posted on my fridge. :)

Well, all I can is it's not a pretty sight at this point. Probably not the way he wants to be remembered and they are awful this year. I respect the guy but his reputation is taking a hit with every season that he holds on.

You've got to assume that JoPa is just a figurehead with his staff doing the real coaching.

Well then, that should make the decision easy- fire the staff as the craptacular season that is 2010 isn't his fault but the supporting cast :D:D

So far as I know, the guy is as involved as he can be- still gets involved with the players, yells at them, etc. He's the genuine article.

This is very probable. Legend Bear Bryant was in the same position at Bama for the last several years. He was the Head Coach but it was the staff that did the work. My brother was at Bama during those years and knew many of the players and staff and knows this to have been the case. -- Al

Ok- but in all fairness doesn't this sort of happen with all headcoaches? Isn't that why they have a staff??

they're looking pretty good so far.

Navy is cleaning Notre Dame's clock 35-10 in the 4th quarter. Navy is over 320 yds rushing. I guess the 42 game losing streak to ND is a long gone memory.:p -- Al

Northwestern played a good game Pete. I thought State would lose. I picked up a few more grey hairs by the fourth quarter.
