College Football - finally (3 Viewers)

You were right, Oregon was a little tight, they only scored 53 on the road.

Yes, team Nike beat an unranked team to go 8-0 for the first time since FDR was President. It's in the bag. No one can stop them. Those flash cards will strike terror into Alabama or Auburn.

Congrats to the Terps! Nice turn around this season, maybe Freidgan's last. Didn't look like much of a buy in by the fans. Maybe 20,000 in the stands for a conference home coming game.

Never have been able to figure out that hideous expansion job on Byrd. What, did UMd actually think that they could put 50,000 people in the stands on a regular basis, without a ranked team? Never gonna happen until they commit to a winning program and everything it costs. -- Al

Team Nike? Common man! If you think that Oregon is the only team that has boosters, think again. As far as striking terror, nice job against South Carolina!? Time will tell.

At least students used to fill up their side of the field in our day. What's the capacity now?

Wake made O'Brien look good but I think he will have a good career at UM with more experience.

Not sure of actual capacity anymore. Lots of new suites for the rich and famous though.:p UMd. probably doesn't worry about selling tickets though. All those empty seats are painted real nice so they show well on TV.:D:rolleyes: -- Al

PSU all over Michigan- it was fantastic!! I'm thinking Rodriguez is sending his resume out.

Navy gets thumped- didn't see that coming- saw Michigan State falling to Iowa- just not so soundly- that was a crushing loss.

Tough couple of weeks in South Bend. The Irish lose to Navy, a kid is killed in an accident at practice, and then they lose to Tulsa at home. And their starting QB is injured and out for the season. They call a pass play from the backup fresh QB with less than 30 seconds left in the Tulsa game while in FG range to win the game. The FG kicker has hit a record 18 in a row. The pass is picked - game over.

The Navy game caught me by surprise. Maybe they should stop playing mid to lower echelon ACC teams. They did manage to beat Wake Forest by a point. Against both Maryland and Duke, Navy beat itself and still came close to winning. The ACC has been a minefield for Navy, who hasn't played as well this ear as I expected. -- Al

I'm on pins and needles in anticipation of the BCS Championship game, Oregon with the ugliest uniforms in the history of sports vs Boise and the clown college blue field they play on, imagine the dough that game will generate because we all know how folks from Boise and Oregon love to toss money around, they'll set a record for money spent at a bowl game; can just see the thousands of RV's making their way to the host city for that game.

Just can't wait.........nah, college football doesn't need a playoff system.

LOL. Good Points. That blue field is an abomination against nature. Some team has a red field as well. Refuse to watch football on anything but green. -- Al

George, there is alot of money in Oregon. Alabama or Auburn love to toss money around? I get to a couple of college games a year a Oregon is always fun to watch. Barring injuries, Oregon should take it this year. After the USC game, Monte Kiffen was shaking his head.

Uh, MD beat Navy with outstanding defensive play! :D VA and NC State are toss ups after last weekend but I'll go with the Terps. Can't say the same for the FSU game. :(

Couple of interesting games this week. Some trouble brewing in Auburn with their QB. That might be a distraction, but they play another of the SEC's mighty non-conference cupcakes this week in Chattanooga. Alabama tops them soon playing a first year college football program Georgia St.

#6 Bama at #10 LSU. Tough game, but LSU hasn't impressed me except for their ability to win games at the end. Often by luck. That won't happen against Bama. Let's say Bama 27 LSU 21.

#15 Arizona at #13 Stanford. AZ plays great D. If they were at home I would pick them. Stanford 24 AZ 13.

#3 TCU at #5 Utah. Utah is hard to beat at home. Probably not looking ahead to ND (LOL). Utah 40 TCU 37.

Hawaii at # 6 Boise State. One wild upset pick per week. Taking Hawaii. BSU can't win forever and Hawaii can score points. Hawaii 47 BS 44.

yeah but they can't play defense either- Army almost came from way down to beat them. I still gotta go with BSU. Otherwise, I think your picks look on.

Anyone notice that Maryland is playing Miami and the Ravens are playing the Dolphins the following day?? :)

I certainly noticed it.:D I sit here now waiting for the UMd game to start. It would be great if the two teams from Maryland could win this weekend. I am also rooting for a third Maryland team, Navy, to win at East Carolina. I will be watching to see how things go, especially with UMd., as they make me nervous. -- Al
