College Football - finally (4 Viewers)

Got that right!! :D Most people don't know that about him

He went to Poly Prep and then Brown. My Prep school roomate went to Brown and played Penn State when he was Senior 1983. I alway keep track of brooklyn Boys. Vince Lombardi being another one.

Gawk! That is the sound of UMd. choking away what should have been a win in Miami. They let a freshman QB beat them in the last 40 seconds on a long TD pass. Couldn't get a 1st down when they had the ball in the last 3:30, either. Miami was out of time outs, 1st string QB and RB out, and UMd. still couldn't stop them. Too bad.:( -- Al

Whew. I might get skunked this week on the picks. TCU and Boise St. really helped themselves. If Bama loses today and then beats Auburn it opens the door.

Chris...don't know if you're watching the game...but he must have given them a heck of a 2nd quarter/halftime speech...

they ran off 35 points to take the lead...

Good grief...what an embarrasment for the 'Cats! As soon as Penn State scored the first TD of the second half to cut the lead to 21-14, I told my son, "We're about to lose by 20." I was close...

Still savoring it my friend!! :D

I remember when he won 324- I think I was still a student then!!

The guy's a class act all the way.

he must have given them the standard 400 win speech...

if one exists...:)

that was a tough loss for you to watch...a 21 point lead...

To quote my son, "Dad, I didn't think mom likes it when we yell that loud..."

I got to the game late (had a meeting), so I barely saw us get the TD to up 21-0. From then on...it was deep hurting!

Wow! I have never seen a team play so poorly and still score 53 points! Oregon didn't even score until the second quarter. The second team quarterback is probably out for the season, not good.

I watched Navy run up 76 on ECU. Navy up 28-21 at half. ECU fumbled the game away in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd. Three TO's which Navy converted into 17 points in those 5 minutes and it was all over. Navy just kept scoring. What a win. Great fun for the fans. Then I see Bama lose to LSU, which I didn't expect. The BCS is starting to look real interesting. -- Al

Looks like the Air Force will take the Commander's Cup again this year.

Anyone see that barnburner Michigan vs Illinois??? My oh My!! :D

I watched the MD - Miami game during a flt to west coast, paid to see it no less. :( Miami only had to close to within field goal range to win and Friedg goes three times up the middle on MD possession with 4 minutes to go! One first down by Terps at the end and MD wins. No glimpse of courage by Friedgen or Franklin.

As I noted in post #142, this should have been a won game for UMd. Boy can that program upset me at times. -- Al

Al, I admire your restraint.

I still think we can get two more wins, maybe.

It's going to be tough. I would like to think we can take UVa this week, except for we can't seem to play a decent game in Charlottesville. UVa has won 8 out of the last 9 times we've gone in there. With FSU and NCS waiting, we need to step it up or we could finish 6-6 on a 4 game losing skid. We just have to win one of those 3 games. It has been a surprising season so far and I would hate to see it go down the tubes with a late season collapse. A collapse would probably end King Ralph's reign, depending on a successful bowl appearence. -- Al

VA is possible though they have won a few upsets. Count out the FSU game. I don't want to contemplate a loss to NCS. 8-4 would be a great season after last yr.

Almost skunked with the picks last week. College football is a strange game - anything is possible from week to week:

Utah at ND. Utah got blasted at home last week in the biggest game of the year for them. Hard to say how they respond. ND had a terrible few weeks. They are due to play better, but I'm picking Utah in a closer than expected game.

Penn St at Ohio St. Great comeback for JoePa last week. But they hit the wall on the road against the Bucks. Ohio St. wins big - maybe by 3 TDs or more.

Oregon at Cal. Cal is truly unpredictable. Get blown out one week and do the reverse the next week. Team Nike is the greatest team of all time. No better reason to pick against them. Cal pulls an upset with the Ducks looking ahead to AZ and Oregon St.

South Carolina at Florida - big SEC game to decide who will get the honor of being stomped in the SEC championship game. Florida should win at home.

Agree with all but one- I'll take PSU over OSU as the sentimental favorite.
