Sorry to hear the fellows about to get another nasty storm, mean while for the next week we folks here in Tucson have 80s and Friday may hit a record temp of 90+....to, to early for that mess, but I guess it's better then a ice storm...Sammy
You can still play along by going to the grocery store and buying up all the milk and toilet paper. Snow siege basically involves sitting at home and watching the weatherman instill fear into everyone (e.g. number of flights cancelled, stay off the roads or you will die, power outages will result in freezing to death). If the power goes out, you start contemplating why you haven't bought a generator and don't have any flashlights that work. Once it comes back on, you never give it another thought. At some point you will be tempted by the lack of anything else to do to go outside with the kids and/or shovel your driveway. This is like the desire to own a boat. Much better in theory than reality. It's cold and miserable and not some kind of winter wonderland. When kids fall down in the snow and ice, they get back up. When adults fall down, it's 911 time. I see the retirees pitch into the snow with great enthusiasm at the first opportunity. I wonder if they do that to escape their wives for a few hours? Maybe they are wiser than I contemplated. It's impermissible to shave on snow days and after about 24 hours you can start to get into a Jack Nicholson mindset from "The Shining" and start talking to imaginary bartenders.
Now, what's all this about IMAGINARY bartenders?:wink2: -- Al
I would think Lloyd comes along later in the evening, along with the pink elephants.:wink2:^&grin -- AlSome of us will be paying a visit to Lloyd by Thursday night.

This is a perfect example of the winter that won't quit. We're getting pounded by our heaviest snowfall in 4 or so years here in the DC area. Got 15 inches in Germantown and apparently the storm isn't done yet. We are in a lull but it is supposed to pick up again later. Lots of warning, thus lots of closings, thus no big disaster on the roads. So far, so good. -- Al
From talking to our neighbor, we have 10 inches with three more tonight. We come back on Saturday. We had a break in the meetings and I sunned myself for a few minutes. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Ended up with 19 inches from the leading part of the storm and know it's snowing again, a further 2 or so inches expected. I'm not worried until it reaches the second floor, as I'm on the third.:wink2:^&grin -- AlThis is a perfect example of the winter that won't quit. George, unbelievable is right. We just got around 20 inches of snow (our most in 4 years) and now the 7 day forecast is calling for temps in the 60's by next Thursday. Oh, that it would be true. Enough of this winter crap, it's time for baseball! :wink2:^&grin -- AlThis super storm/winter event/blizzard of 2014 wiped out two toy soldier shows in one shot, Atlanta and Annandale.
Hammered basically the entire east coast.
My memory may not be what it used to, but I'm having a hard time remembering a winter as bad as this one; if it's not bone chillingly cold, it's snowing to beat the band, no relief in sight, more snow Saturday.
Unbelievable.

The winter of 1993 was the last one this brutal in New York.
Bingo! I also prefer cool/cold weather but I am ready for some 50/60 degree weather for a while. If nothing else I need to give my heating bill a break. -- AlI know a lot of other areas have been hit worse than us but the constant wetness and the biting cold is wearing me down and I'm one who likes cool weather.
